Back from vacation too, talk about timing!

I gave this a quick spin tonight, and it seems to work quite well. I like the layout, and it's easy to browse around, find what you want, and purchase it. I'll have to buy myself a points card (no more credit card for me, noooo sir!) to get on downloading things beyond Excitebike and trailers.

Here's hoping we get a good release schedule from now on!

(Credit Card) Ah, yes, about that... I'd get a point card as well, except I can't find them in stores >_<

I'm actually thinking about Dark Void Zero, as well as waiting fot the mandatory SF2 3D. The eShop seems much better than the Dsi one.

Argh, double post :(

3DS Ambassador Program: Those who purchased the 3DS before the 11th of August get 20 free games. 10 NES games, 10 GBA. This coincides with Nintendo dropping the 3ds' price to 169.99 USD.

This update is very late- everyone probably knows about it :/

Yup, especially since Packard made a post about it using a not-so-obvious title.

What's this "Nintendo 3DS Giant AR card? And do you mean Play Coins, the stuff you get for jogging w/ the 3ds?

No not play coins. Go to club nintendo https://club.nintendo.com/

After that, sign up. When you are done signing up. Get the package your 3DS came in and your 3DS. Once signed in, scroll down a little and you will see a text bar with a button near it that says "Register" Look at the back of your 3DS, Find the sticker with the code on it. Its case sensitive, put all of the letters and numbers in it including the one in the box. After that a thing should pop up asking you to register your PIN as well. The PIN comes in the box with the 3DS in a small package on a separate slip of paper, mostly red. After that it will ask you to do a small survey over the 3DS and when you're done you will get 160 coins. You should already have 40 coins at start I think... if not Im not sure. Try to register as many products as possible and their pins. The more you do that the more coins you get.

When thats done, scroll to top and click View Rewards. You should find this for 200 coins https://club.nintendo.com/rewards-details/a/21002.do

It comes with a side 2 so you can have a giant mario in your room as well.

Update on the Ambassador program, all ten NES games are now known!

  • Super Mario Bros.™
  • Donkey Kong Jr.™
  • Balloon Fight™
  • Ice Climber™
  • The Legend of Zelda™
  • Metroid™
  • NES Open Tournament Golf
  • Wrecking Crew
  • Zelda II - The Adventure of Link
  • Yoshi

This is better than I expected! Many of these games will be great to have in portable form, since you can play them easily for short periods of time. I'm especially looking forward to Ice Climbers, Wrecking Crew and NES Open Tournament Golf. I played quite a bit of the last two!

More than four months later, I still can't find 3DS points cards in any stores, and it looks like this is a country-wide thing. *sigh*

Nintendo, it's nice to have you releasing games, especially some great-looking titles, but it'd be nice if you allowed me to purchase them!

Worth noting, Nintendo doesn't store ANYTHING credit-card related on their servers. The furthest they go is tying your system to a Club Nintendo account, but that's it. Credit cards are safe via Nintendo products.

A bunch of 3DS news showed up today. Among these: Kirby's Adventure, in 3D!

This is my second favorite NES game, and I played the heck out of the cart on the console. I also got the GBA remake Nightmare in Dreamland some years back, yet I feel like replaying this one some more. Some scenes, like the pseudo-3D parts of Butter Building and the clouds in Grape Garden should pop-up quite nicely.

The selection of 3D classics has been really underwhelming so far (Urban Champions? Really?), but now we're getting in the great games of the NES era!

Oh, and a 3D makeover for the NES Kid Icarus was announced in Japan too.

The 3DS's battery life is the only thing that I really dislike about the device. Sure, it's no Sega Nomad, but it's still annoying. It let me down one time too many today, so I'm going to get an extended battery.

Sure, it adds a big of bulk to the device, but the extra life will definitely be worth it. I like to always keep my unit running because of the StreetPass features, and that's not really compatible with how often I recharge it.

The plan has always been to have those available before the end of 2011, and last I heard they are still aiming for that target. A bit more patience is required!

The list of GBA games is known... at least for Japan!

Here goes:

  • F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
  • Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
  • Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
  • Kirby & The Amazing Mirror
  • Mario Kart Super Circuit
  • Mario vs Donkey Kong
  • Metroid Fusion
  • Wario Land 4
  • WarioWare Inc: Mega Microgame$

Assuming that we get the same games in North America, which is likely, this is a great list! Kirby & The Amazing Mirror and Mario vs Donkey Kong are two games that I've heard good things about, yet I missed them the first time they came around. WarioWare is one that's fun to come back to once in a while, and a portable version for which you don't need to carry the cartridge around will be nice. I might very well try out Wario Land 4 too.

What's the problem with this selection? Unlike that really mediocre NES collection, this is all quality stuff.

The NES lineup really was mediocre, wasn't it :P

With this one, it's more a preference than anything.

Mario 3 and Wario 4 seem abit redundant.

I wouldn't say that. The first one is a SNES port, the second is a GBA original, and the gameplay style differs quite a bit between the two.

Mario 3 and Wario 4 seem abit redundant.

I wouldn't say that. The first one is a SNES port, the second is a GBA original, and the gameplay style differs quite a bit between the two.

Y'know what, that's true. I have no legitimate complaint for this lineup, except that I own several of these games.

Ion Gamma seems reluctant to show.

I REFUSE TO CHANGE THIS SIGNATURE UNTIL GOLDEN SUN 4 IS IN THE PALM OF MY DS/3DS!!!

I only own three, and there are three more that I had at least an interest in playing, which I think is a good score overall! Having portable versions that don't require cart swapping is a bonus.

I played some WarioWare yesterday, and I had forgotten how fun that one was. In my mind, it's still a draw between the first and Twisted over which game in the series is the best !
