.exe > classic Why?
1.Storylines were excellent, and top-notch.
2.Gameplay was improved upon massively per game.
3.Better battke system

2. Better battle system.

And really, these same opinions apply to prove why .exe is better than others. No other series had the excellent storyline, crazy unlockables, and killer aftergames of .exe. Truly, this great series shall be remembered by me. Chrono X people, you're all awesome.
Just on a side note, the games go like this, from grestest to worst. 6,2,5,3,1. 4 doesn't deserve recognition.

Anyway, there has never been a string of games greater than this. You will be remembered always, .exe...

I've got to agree with Mega X on this one. The Zero series formed a tight package with a very consistent storyline from beginning to end to no other series comes close to match. While the Battle Network series obviously had more to tell, as the games were RPGs, they lacked that level of refinement.

Your second point on ".exe > classic" is a good one. While the Original series were more-or-less copy jobs with an added feature or two to each iteration, the Battle Network games evolved a lot over time. Try playing 6, then going back to 1!

On my end, I think it's hard to compare two series like this since they have such different styles. The Battle Network obviously has a more complex design than the others, but it did show up 13 years after the first Mega Man game, so that's to be expected. ZX, which came later, had a weaker premise and suffered a bit from that, in my humble opinion.

With that said, I'm extremely fond of the Battle Network / EXE series, and I know I'll keep coming back to it in some way or another for a long time.

MMBN was my favorite, as i hold it above all Megaman games.

To me, .EXE is representative of Mega. These are just opinions, and I do not agree with several of the above posts.

I DO like Bn's story more than MMZ's however, that might not have been if X wasn't a "copy"( I didn't care for "COPY X"

Anyway, I just wanted to shout out that BN is best, in my opinion.

If you ask me, I liked the story of the Battle Network games more as well. The concept is solid, there are some genuinely great moments through the series, and the world it creates sounds like a great place to live in. My point is that the Zero series has a better story quality and writing overall, regardless of personal preference.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, this isn't exactly what I meant. My point is that the Zero series had better story writers. The events they present, from the end of the X series up to Zero 4, is solid and pretty much never contradicts itself. There's a build-up from Zero 1 to Zero 3, along with Zero 4's conclusion, which slowly reveals more and more of the picture until you get a (mostly) complete package. On the other hand, the Battle Network universe is my favorite from a personal perspective. However, the overall quality fluctuated quite a bit from game to game. For example, Battle Network 4 had a very thin plotline overall, scattered around a silly tournament structure that featured tons of pointless scenes. They had the basic elements to make it a success (Worldwide travel! Killer asteroid! Judgement Day! Lord Wily's son!), but they couldn't quite get something interesting out of it. Also, the universe itself became a bit sillier as time moved on, such as everyone getting a new PET in every game (every few months in-universe!) for the sake of selling toys. I loved most of it, but it did show several weaknesses that could have been avoided with a stronger global oversight.

It's the difference, in other words, between WHAT the plot is and HOW the plot is. For my part, I preferred Zero for both, but the former is far more subjective compared to the latter.

Ah. The Zero series was a nice, solid series with a solid, non-contradicting storyline. BN however, had an overall better storyline. However, the story itself had few contradictions and was not as solid at times?

It is mainly for little kids in Japan, and truth be told, The Japanese can keep it.

It does have it's good points I will give it that. Especially with new designs for bosses. But they never made a Gemini Man EXE. That in itself bums me out. :mad:

Yes, but Yllisos's comment about "made for japanese kids"

almost has meaning when .exe is substituted for starforce.

That, and that Gemini Man was the biggest cliche storyplot in the series.

BTW- Doc, I agree with you, I'm just being both sides of the argument. Ylissos, I really don't see what you mean. Do i have your view right in that .exe sux because it's too "kiddy?"
