I made mine after I tried making sprite recolors and found out that not only were they looked down upon, but I wasn't that great at making them.

All my avatars this month were either created by me or taken from MechaEX.

Mine is clearly from my mind,TJ teh Fox!BAd blue recoiler with wayyyyy yo lose black jeans.I can't remember where I got the original Tails sprite,though...

I used to have a Gouf avatar, which was actually a scan from a model kit box.
I had a Z'Gok that was a proffesional Z'Gok CG trimmed down.
A couple have been oekakis.
The latest batch (Heatman sprites) are custom animations of Heatman from one of the Arcade games (I think). The animations I made myself.

Well the animation of yours at the moment is pretty good.

Erm, I'm still fiddling around with my new animation program. I made this because I'd made an oekaki a while back with "Lord Punchy Vadar" and thought it sounded like a fun project to recreate him. So I got a piece of official artwork and made it into Punchy Vadar!

Mine is, naturally, my alter ego Waluigi. Nintendo art from..Mario Party 4 I believe. But I made it more purple. PURPLE I SAY!

Well, my old avatar was just Snakeman.exe in the battle view fitted into avatar format with snakeman on the side, I made it myself, but as you can imagine, I thought it looked horrible.

My current avatar is the talking Snakeman.exe. I found a spritesheet of him and animated it. The trouble was it did not fit the frame, it was way to small. I had to hand draw the rest of it to make it fit. Bet you didn't notice that at first glance huh?

I got about 18 months ago on google. It was my 3rd Avatar. the first one was the MMx banner on this site. the second was Bass warping in beacuse someone else decided to use it.

Mine is just one I made to replace my last one. It was a Christmas one. I just changed it a few days ago. I'm slow at changing my avatars.

This new avatar is the result of countless seconds of wasted time. Basically, I just cropped a pic of a chibi Gundam Airmaster and resized it a bit...it's pretty cool.
