This little topic is about MegaMan.....but WHY is Capcom ruining their step to star-dom!

They are not. The games are more complicated. Besides, they have many other games to work on too!

Capcom is not ruining Megaman from a business point of view. They are making alot of profit on Battle Network.

If you don't like the way Megaman is going right now, just don't buy any new games. Your own personal boycott.

No really, the Classic Series is the focus here. Its gone...... never coming again....oh, and Hollow, keep the falming me to a minimum (or none, you'd be in hell without any of my advice)

I personally think that Megaman 9 (or whatever the last tOS game is) will be the last Megaman game. Sort of a finisher if you will. Keep the suspense up until the final moment and all.

That was my point. Capcom is a business, they are interested in making money. Battle Network is their "sure thing" for Megaman, right now. The Megaman X series must be doing pretty well for itself too.

Capcom needs proof that Megaman IX would sell. I assume that either Megaman 8 or Rockman and Forte/Megaman and Bass sold poorly, and they're not willing to take a risk right yet.

With good sales of the Anniversary Collection though, they might be willing to try Megaman IX/9.

Oh, and Kiryu, I find it odd that one of the few posts I -don't- flame you in, you tell me not to flame you. And to some theorists, this IS hell.

Megaman X7 was a seller, dispite the noticeable desperation for names of the Mavericks, that shows you that no matter how bad the eight bosses names go, megaman is always a hit.

First of all, Legends isn't dead, just on hiatus. Granted, a really long hiatus. But a hiatus all the same.

I think the final Classic game is the final Megaman game that will be made when Capcom decides to end the Original-X-Zero-Legends timeline. Which means sometime in the next 20 or so years.

BTW, they may say now that X8 is the final game (Which I have no evidence which they did.) but when they realize how much they make from it, they'll bring it back.

Have some faith in Capcom. They've been making games for a very long time. They've been working on Mega Man for 15-16 years now. If you ask me, Mega Man has done alot in 15 years. His own show in the US (both Original and NT Warrior), merchandise, millions of games sold are just few of these things.

Capcom doesn't intend to throw such a great character away. Afterall, without Mega Man, I would have no idea how Capcom would be surviving today.

Once the newer generation of kids see Mega Man, alot of them will probably ask " Gee, I wonder how it all began with Mega Man." Alot of them will probably have no idea what the Original Series are all about, by that time.

That, may be when Capcom decides to bring Mega Man (the Original) back, in some kind of come-back. And that generation is now...

You're right, Command Mission is not X9, just like how Megaman and Bass isn't MM9, but that doesn't mean X8 is the end of that series. No no, sure baldie bites the dust in that game but there's still more to cover, Command Mission proves that. Command Mission takes place quite some time after X8, 22XX in fact and given the sucess of that game, there is a good chance for a sequel.

Now as far as Legends, yes it is on Hiatus, but Inafune HIMSELF has stated that there WILL be a Legends 3, so just wait and don't get your thong in a knot.

BN has been stated to end at 7 (This comes from a Megaman-Network article somewhere.)

It'll be a while before Classic gets a new game, most likely when Inafune finishes BN. And Zero, well who knows where that's gonna end since it stars Inafune's favourite character, Zero.

And Inafune said X was going to end at 4. NO WAIT, 5. Then Inafune dropped out completely, someone else at Capcom takes care of X now.

So yeah, if Inafune says "EXE series will end at 7" it doesn't mean anything. Capcom can make it go to sequel 51 if they want.

Capcom isn't ruining Mega Man. They're making new games out of it. And it doesn't look like they're gonna stop anytime soon. Mega Man X will surely continue, Mega Man BN will continue as well and the same thing applies to Mega Man Zero. The only reason the classic series and the Legends series are on hiatus, it's because X, BN and Zero sell more these days. That's all there is to it. It's all about the money that you give to them when you buy a game.

Actually, not ruining Megaman. These games are much older, and Capcom is still trying to bring back old Megaman Classic games by creating the Anniversary collections for GBA and GC.

*BN is gonna end, Inafune wants a Zero only series, I think Capcom should make a BN game with Zero in it to please Zero fans. NT does NOT count!

Also, Legends isn't dead... it just doesn't move much anymore. It's... sleeping... BUT IT WILL WAKE UP!!! Our hopes are not in vain!
And don't you think it's possible that they can make another series even if these ones die? I mean, face it, classic Mario games are dead and they still spew out every sport in Mario's honor and sell thousands. He doesn't have to jump in a classic sidescroller anymore, he's an icon. And even when he is sidescrolling, he's on a new handheld system, so he's still selling. And anybody who says Mario can't go anywhere else would be spitting into the wind.
So, isn't it possible Megaman will have some more series? Even if a couple are deemed permanantly closed, they can still make new ones.

Lack of Rush: Capcom's stage designers made the stages in MegaMan & Bass with Bass in mind, and Rock died alot. No Rush Jet, no E-Tanks in MegaMan & Bass.

I guess the thing with mario is, it's the defining OG...OG. People love and remember the old Mario (he hasn't changed nearly as much as many other characters), and so they are still drawn towards remakes and spoofs of even the OLDEST Mario games.

I guess Megaman Anniverary Collection hit it off nicely too, eh? People haven't forgotten the old Megaman either.:D

By what I mean by "NT" is the anime.

Axsess has the Network-Transmission Navis. (EG: StarMan) But no Zero.......
