Pinned This is the Original Series forum (1 2 )
Information and stuff inside
Started by Doctacosa on 25 May 2002 at 2:16
This forum is dedicated to the Original Series in the Mega Man realm. Ranging from Mega Man 1 to 8, to the GameBoy titles and oddball games (Mega Man Soccer, anyone?), this series includes by far the largest number of games. For the future, the question is: did Capcom forgot about the original Blue Bomber?

Mega Man Maker
Stage Builder
Started by MaceMan on 1 April 2021 at 23:58
This is hardly news, by any means. But has anyone else been into Mega Man Maker lately?

I really haven't been making stages at this point, I've mostly just been looking through stages other people have put together every once in a while.

But if anyone is interested in sharing stages they have built or interesting ones they have run across, I'd personally love to see them!

Unreleased RockBoard Game Boy Port Discovered
Started by Spotanjo3 on 12 September 2020 at 12:58
An unreleased Game Boy port of RockBoard has surfaced this morning following another batch of "Nintendo Leaks."

The game is a near 1:1 port of the Famicom party game and appears to be largely complete.

I cannot directly link you to the leaked file at this time. Sorry! Look around a bit and you'll find it. Nevertheless, this is history!

We will have a more thorough analysis of the game soon. Stay tuned!

Rockman & Forte: just R&F or Megaman 9?
What do you think? (read post first)
Started by Aaron on 1 January 2004 at 10:37
On some online game I played, there was quite a fuss about Rockman & Forte. Some said that it was just a side game, some said that it was Megaman 9. I guess that it\'s just a side game, but according to someone, R&F\'s story (allthough there\'s not much story) was perfectly connected to Megaman 8 and 7. I thought this wasn\'t impossible, since Megaman meets Bass (Forte) in 7, but I\'ve never played MM8. So, I want your opinions.

Udon recently published the first volume in the US, and the second one is scheduled for later this year. Has anyone else picked up a copy? I didn't see a thread about it yet...

Personally, I think I would have appreciated the stories a bit more when I was younger. Still, the art is top notch and the character designs are really interesting. Ariga's interpretation of the characters and story deviates a bit from the established universe, but I really like how he sees it. I particu ...

IGN: Leave Mega Man alone!
Started by Doctacosa on 20 October 2011 at 14:21
IGN's staff has posted an article on their thoughts about what Capcom should and shouldn't do with the Mega Man franchise.

I must say that I agree with them all the way. The franchise has a style that must be built upon, even if an alternate graphics style is used for a new series. I also think that a reboot would be a terrible idea, and that they should focus on a new IP if they want to do something like that.

My favorite quote: "We don't care what Mega Man's ...

Rockman 25th Anniversary Soundtrack collection
I knew it!
Started by Doctacosa on 21 June 2012 at 13:32
I totally called it.

Capcom announced that they'll be releasing later this year the Rockman 25th Anniversary Soundtrack, which includes the soundtracks from the numbered games in the original series, in a fancy e-can package.

At ~185$ US, I'm definitely not importing that, but it's the first actual content for the 25th anniversary. Hopefully, more will follow!

I don't know if I posted this in the right forums, so here goes...

As the title says, I need ideas for weapons for a Mega Man fan game I'm working on currently. It is in NES format as accurately as I can possibly get it, to the point it even has sprite flicker and slow down if too many sprites are on the screen at once.

Mega Man and Bass are playable characters and each have 8 secondary weapons they pick up in the stages alongside the master weapons they get for defeating a ...

This thread at Digital Press was linked on MMN's forums. There's a ton of photos of Capcom internal images and memorandum, including some interesting looks at in-progress box art designs for several games, as well as story outlines.

Two such blurry letters can be found amongst them, related to Mega Man 3. I transcribed parts I could make out:

Possible Explanation Linking to the X-era (1 2 )
Where did Mega Man go?
Started by RisingDragon on 4 September 2010 at 2:34
I'm not familiar with the plot of the game, but consider this: is it possible that the reason why Mega Man no longer exists in the Mega Man X era because of the events of Mega Man II?

Basically, the reason why Mega Man isn't there is because he was turned into Quint, and subsequently destroyed by Mega Man?

Art Direction
Can't please everybody... or can you?
Started by Sb20 on 7 April 2011 at 11:11
One thing a lot of people complained about for Mega Man Universe was its revamped "American cartoon" based grumpy Mega Man art style. Before that, Mega Man Powered Up got equally rough treatment for its cutesy super deformed art direction.

Seems that every time Mega Man tries to get updated to modern hardware nowadays, he gets a new art style. I'm sure they try to do this to both distinguish the new brand and appeal to a wider audience, but it seems like every time they ali ...

Rockman 7 manga
Shigeto Ikehara's last shebang gets reprinted.
Started by Sb20 on 7 April 2011 at 22:23
It was originally collected in 3 volumes, but with this new edition they're condensing it down to just two. I sort of wonder why they chose to re-release that one, though. Not that it's bad, in fact as far as Ikehara's mangas go it was among the most fun. Just seems a little odd that they start with the final work. If it's successful, will they start releasing them backwards?

Kind of cool, I guess. I just hope this isn't the 2nd mystery game we've been waiting for.

To be released to mobile phones Q3 2009.

I guess it's kind of nice to see Mega Man in something different. Apparently, you can also obtain robot master weapons in this game too. I wonder how well that will all work.

So TVTropes has this wonderful little topic called "Fridge Horror." Among its wonderful entries is something from Mega Man, and it puts things scarily into perspective about Dr. Light's practices and the Three Laws of Robotics.

"The original series has Megaman vs. Dr Wily, with the latter never being executed for his actions. Eventually, Doctors Light and Wily make their final works, X and Zero, with Zero being imbued with the Zero Virus. The X series has the virus ab ...
