Well, Saturday night I felt the urge for a new Wii game, and Nintendo delivered with Super Paper Mario. The game is basically a Paper Mario 3, but this time Nintendo drops the RPG game setup for a 2-D / 3-D platformer.

So, I just finished the last chapter yesterday, and began seeking the secrets today. I am pleased to say that the game does offer enough to keep me going on for as long as a want!

Anyone else here play this game?

I'll be getting it eventually, but not too soon: I just started playing Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door a few weeks ago!

So this isn't an RPG anymore? Then the series dies in my eyes. The original was a sequal to Super Mario RPG, only the 4th best SNES game.

Lol. The game adds a little variety by making it a 2-D game for one go around, and everyone is complaining.

The game is a 2-D sidescroller, with towns, a level up system, and various items (besides shrooms) that aid you. Sidescrolling RPG, so stop whining. >___>

ALSO, thanks to Nintendo Power, I can ALSO confirm that the development team will NEVER be "the same as the way it was) As in, they want to try more variety, and will try different gaming styles for Paper Mario. Yes, VARIETY. >___>

I'm all for that. Not that the basic Paper Mario design is boring (or flat, har har har), but I think it's nice to go with something a bit different every time instead of reusing the same structure all the time. Super Paper Mario looks really neat, at least on concept.

I C WUT U DID THAR

Agree'd, if you couldn't tell, btw. The reasons why people don't like sequils, is, because, well, it's more of the same. What the developers did was completely change that, so they could enlarge their fanbase, as well as keep th series fresh, while still keeping basics from the RP system, add them to real time, and of course, keep the humor fresh.

After demoing it at Gamestop, I can honestly say that I am extremely pleased with the end result.

Wait for it... no one was complaining about the 2-Dness. I was upset because it's not an RPG style game anymore. Granted, I took a look at the game and it's not as far gone as my first impression, but I liked it better the old way.

Ditto. LOL.

But of course, the game isn't actually over-different. The moves are mostly the same, just that you control them in a moving world. It's a cool concept once you try it out.

My personal opinion, I think this is one of the best games to come out so far this year. It's just so fun and original... I love it! It's been so long since I found a game that grew on me so fast. <3

To me it was more of a bringing of a long and sometimes tedious RPG intoa golden mean with faster-paced action so that it didn't take so darn long.

Once you enter the thousand year door you CAN leave, at least im almost sure. Even if you can though it takes forever to backtrack all the way...

I've backtracked and left a couple of times. Never managed to beat the last boss before.

The Shadow Queen is Culex-level hard if you weren't high-enough level. Speaking of which, why the lack of Cameos in the most recent two games? Are they there, and I'm just missing them? There were at least four in Super Mario: RPG.

Aloit of the cameos are verbal cameos, really.

For example, a man in the Sammer Guy's world is always referred to as "The Thousand year ROAR" and other bits like that.

Almost all 100 of Sammer's men were cameos, from "Useless Badge" to "Lakitu Storm."

And you see a load in Francis' posters.

I'm still working through the Flopside pit of 100 trials. Anyone finish it yet?
