I'm a little skeptical of the next game being on a handheld, after the two previous games were both console releases.
I don't know if I'd be willing to shell out cash for another DS system to play this.
I'll wait for the download/ console ported version.

So the rumors were true, for once... I like how they're very up-front about it: it's a Legends sequel, it's Legends 3, they even show a logo, so it can't be interpreted any other way than "it's finally coming". We've got Mega Man 9 two years ago, and we now have the second most-requested sequel underway. Here's hoping that Mega Man X9 won't have to stay in limbo for ten years too. 
I think it's very appropriate to see it being released for the 3DS. The first Mega Man Legends was Mega Man's attempt to break into the 3D gaming world, much like how Super Mario 64 and Sonic Adventure did. It seems logical for the next step to be another innovation made to the franchise related to 3D.

Still, glad that Capcom's finally listening to the MM fanbase for a change.
Just because a sequel to a console game is on a handheld shouldn't discredit it's quality. Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep is a PSP exclusive, and acts as a prequel to the main series- Nomura stated that it wasn't a spinoff, and should be considered Kingdom Hearts 0. I should also note that it's easily the best in the series thus far.

BUT! I don't know if I will be satisfied. It's been too long. I want the old graphics or else it would look out of place from the previous games. (Though, if the game is on a handheld, previous generation graphics wouldn't look too odd in this day and age of gaming.) I also hope that they don't try to "update" the series like what they did to Devil May Cry reboot. I don't know if any of the previous story writers (other than Inafune) are still around. I don't want some new writers trying to put their own spin on the story...

A fourteen-year-old support character does not bode well for the direction of the series. This isn't Pokemon. This isn't Sonic the Hedgehog. I hope they know what they're doing.
Overall, I have two distinct reactions to the Legends 3 news. One is joy, and the other is distrust. I'm not sure which emotion to feel right now.
Not long ago, I read through some of my first posts here, from eight years ago. I was fourteen, and my opinions on the Mega Man series as a whole were unrestrained, to put it lightly. That's the part of me that feels distrust. I'd like to say that I've grown a lot since then, but I've always found it hard to move on when it comes to Mega Man. Mega Man is serious business.
The other part of me just wants to be happy we're getting anything. The art might be a step in the Pokemon direction, and the story could very well end up alienating the fans that are old enough to have played the series, but I'm still looking forward to the gameplay. This is a system-seller for me, even if the content doesn't end up being what I'd like it to be.
The best I can do right now is wait and see. That, and discuss it here rather than the Capcom Unity board. That place is a wall of text that grows exponentially by the hour. This could definitely go either way from what I've seen.

I never got to play the first two. Perhaps this is motivation to start!
And about the Inafune issue... it sucks but I'd be tired too if I worked at the same company for 23 years.
What makes me a good Demoman?
If I were a bad Demoman, I wouldn't be sittin' here, discussin' it with you now would I? 
I like the new character Aero, I feel she is quite fitting for the series.

And I'm glad they junked the name they meant to give her for Western audiences. I don't have anything against "Sephira" as a name, but it surely didn't fit with the others. First of all, "Roll" and "Tron" are both four letters long and roll on the tongue, much like "Aero". Second, why make the name different between countries when there's no legal or cultural reason to? I'm not against all name switches (Crash Man remains better than Clash Man!), but I do think it's best to avoid them whenever reasonable.

For the record, I'm glad they picked Aero for her name too. "Sephira" is a nice name, but it sounds a little too serious.

Huh. Considering that all of the games feature women as final bosses, I wouldn't be surprised if Aero is the final boss!

Yes, THAT Hardman. This is the new and improved one.
Although I don't like the addition of another "main character" or her design (it doesn't look very Megaman Legends-like), it's neat that they showcase the model...
