Topic: Mega Man X Street Fighter, coming right up!
Update by Dr. Cossack
In an unexpected turn of events, Capcom has announced today a new release: Mega Man X Street Fighter, coming up on December 17th, Mega Man's birthday! This fan-made game has received Capcom's official support and has been chosen to blast off Mega Man's 25th anniversary while also ending Street Fighter's own celebrations. A trailer showcasing basic gameplay and characters is waiting for you!
The game will be available on the PC, in 8-bits style, straight from Capcom's website, and for free in a mere 9 days.
Except its fanmade and free, so there's no money to be made off of it for Capcom. I wouldn't call it evidence of Capcom coming back to the franchise.
Capcom is supporting Megaman. That's a step in the right direction. Also, from everything I heard, they dropped the franchise because they didn't think there was enough interest in it. If a poopy little 8bit crossover title made by ametures in their spare time gets enough push and interest, it might encourage them to look into other options. If nothing else, just the fact that Capcom acknowledged and supported this game, is proof that they're still paying attention to the franchise, which is more than I thought they were doing.
I'm with Wind on this. It's not a profit maker in any way, and they didn't have one of their studios work on it directly (although some staff members provided support), but this can be used to gauge fan interest in future releases. The fact that it'll be free and company-endorsed means that word on this should spread quickly.
I say bring it on.

It is pretty cool that Capcom supported this fan in his endeavor. Kind of makes me want to send Capcom a constant eschew of proposals, actually...
