While I may not have been an FPS type fan, THIS

THIS RIGHT HERE

Its so amazing.. I would get it in an instant.

But can anyone point out for me, why the game was not even legitimently considered by Capcom?

I'm so confused.. I'm still a fan that is still hanging on.. But every single momment I hear any type of cancellation or any single bad news from Capcom concerning megaman has left me in the dumps.

I tried to call it quits, but its just so difficult, knowing how much treatment we are getting.

This makes it 4 games now, right?

We had a chat about that last night, but I thought I'd share my opinion here too.

I'm not sold on the idea of a X FPS, but some of these people headed the Metroid Prime series. They made it work beautifully for that series, so it's entirely possible they could have done it here, too.

I'm not a huge fan of the overly metallic aspect of X, but maybe I could have grown to like it. Command Mission, while still 3D, was much closer in appearance to what I'd expect to see.

As Morphman said, 2010 really was a terrible year for the series...

It looks way too much like Bomberman Zero. I'll forgive it since it was a basic prototype and could have gone a different way, but this as a final product would just throw me off, personally. And despite what the article says, it really does feel like a "grim and edgy" reboot.

I never did like the redesign much myself. But its a recreation right? It has to look different in some way or another.

Even then, being able to use some of X's weapons in first person looks like a really neat idea! Which is why I didn't get bothered by the design so much.

I still will never understand all these cancellations concerning megaman.

While I agree with the first thing, I would've forgiven them as long as X would actually have had a face. The rest of the look is fine by me, this at least works much better with MegaMan than it does with Bomberman, especially with the X series.

Watch the video labeled Armor Transformation. They have human faces that are then covered by a faceplate.

It's such an early build, hard to say what exactly would have turned out with months or even years of development tucked into it. That said, I can really only judge based on what I see.

Y'all know I'll give anything Mega Man a shot, but...

Gotta say, the action strikes me as rather generic FPS stuff. Probably doesn't help that it's the same boring enemy over and over. Not content to merely let me be bad at them, most games I've attempted in the FPS genre have given me splitting headaches to boot. They are not my thing.

I liked the plot synopsis okay, and that they would have partnered X with a human, and that they were going with Western writers for the script.

I guess what really bothers me is that it seems so targeted and product-y. I know that's not a thing. They basically said, "Westerners only like gritty FPS now, so we need to make a Mega Man X FPS reboot or he won't sell anymore. Metroid Prime was good, let's just do the exact same thing--in fact, let's get the exact same team to design it while we're at it. Transformers and Iron Man are blockbuster movies, let's make sure our Mega Man looks just like that--by getting the same artist. Guaranteed hit in the West!"

I don't know why the idea of copying other's strengths doesn't sit well with me in this context, when it's pretty much the basic premise of Mega Man. I guess my beef boils down to this: as calculated this attempt to pander to a broader Western audience is, it just isn't what I personally wanted to play. And so I whine. I wish they'd do something modern, amazing and inspired with the existing Mega Man subfranchises and plotlines instead of just throwing one more new Mega Man on top of the pile.

Granted, this project didn't move forward, all discussion is probably moot, for I don't know the reasons or politics of why this game was dreamed up or killed off, and it was long dead before I ever heard about it. It got a pretty mixed reaction from fans, so I don't think the feedback will be too helpful to Capcom if considering something like it again. Whether fans liked the concept or hated it, the whole news of the thing just adds to the uncertainty and disappointment surrounding Mega Man right now.

It looked horrible. It lacked the panache of MPrime--since MPrime was the same ol' same ol', with Sam exploring everything and shooting it dead.

MPrime wasn't an attempt at "grit" either, like this so obviously was. It had comedic moments with the Space Pirates, and was more "beautiful world to explore" instead of "X is now Master Chief". Oh well.
