The plot tickens...

This extra scan shows Lan holding none other than the original PET! This definitely places this game's events before Battle Network 3, so this definitely isn't "Mega Man Battle Network 7" or anything like that. It'd explain the older sprite style, too.

I'm glad to see the original PET's return. It actually looks like a working handheld computer, unlike many of the later versions which were created just for the sake of changing stuff every year.

This also confirms the use of chip codes, so the battle engine will at least match Battle Network 2's usability level instead of the primitive Battle Network 1 model. This is great news, I was afraid that they'd be going a bit too far back.

I don't think it's primitive. I liked being able to select from 15 chips at a time. I just didn't like that it snapped back to 5 after using some, because that makes it too hard to dig down to the bottom 15. The Add system might be worth using again if it went back to 3 rows and didn't require any sacrificed chips. I mean c'mon, the turn you spend fighting without battle chips is the sacrifice!

You're forgetting the lack of * chip codes, or the fact that the chips you can't select don't grey out after you've picked something else, and the much slower pacing of the battles... This goes way beyond the ADD system!

Those last two things you mentioned could be changed without affecting the game balance, true. The asterisk code does make matching up chips less restrictive, but it seems to start to undermine having the code system in the first place. I would just give each chip a few more letter codes to be found in; it's already challenging enough to find the letter you want when some of them are one-time pick-ups or even trader-machine only.

Here are two scans giving you an idea of the gameplay. Looks like it's traditional Battle Network style, therefor, Star Force Mega Man gets his own sprite.

The two Mega Men also have their own share of unique abilities, as well as some all new ones for Star Force Mega Man.

- Both Rockmen have their own set of unique abilities.
- SSRockman is capable of locking onto enemies from afar.
- SSRockman can utilize battle chips and even Program Advances.
- WarRock Attack is a battle chip this time around, however, it is unknown if it's exclusive to SS Rockman.

I wouldn't call this a "minor" port, although it's not "huge overhaul" or "remake", that's for sure. I've got the feeling that we're still missing on something... and it will at least get something done: make Battle Network 1 playable once again. Once you've touched the sequels, the original is too different to be really fun.

And hey, who's to say that there's a single sidequest? It's very possible that there are several of these intertwined with the original game's story.

C'mon, who's looking forward to playing through ElecMan's stage again? :D

I personally liked the Power-Up system from BN 1 and 2, so I'm glad they're bring that back. Guess there won't be a Navi Customizer or Style Changes/Soul Unisons either. No big deal, as far as I'm concerned.

Hopefully, they plan on revamping the Network's design. MMBN 1's was just so....empty.

What, to IceMan himself, or to his level? I liked IceMan's attack pattern; he was one of the few bosses who wasn't a sitting duck most of the time. The iced water network was all right, too. I might make that big ice grid with the holes more transparent so you can more easily see what you're doing there, and maybe there should be a way to use a faucet twice in a row faster, but that's about it.

Ooooh... They had me two seconds after the original Battle Network's theme started playing. This looks a bit less upgraded than I'd like, but it should be enough to satisfy me. This throws me back to the time when I saw the trailer of the first title of that series...

I can't help but notice that the two battle themes haven't been remixed. I'm really hoping that this is because the game is being worked on, and that they'll give this soundtrack the same treatment as Battle Network 5 DS. It's not that complicated of a thing to do, and it already makes the game feel not quite as old.

So far the confirmed bosses are FireMan, NumberMan, ShadowMan, Bass and ClockMan. Other Characters are of course MegaMan, Warrock, ProtoMan, Roll, Harpy Note and GutsMan.

Are there any others that I missed, I personally want to know who are in the game, especially new bosses and characters. Fingers are still crossed for GeminiMan and CrashMan at the least.
