I've made a Suggestion entitled Reinstate Mega Man Universe in Capcom's Suggestion Box.
Whether it's hopeless or not, I'm going to show my support. Still, you should at least give the suggestion a read.
Reinstate Mega Man Universe
As we all know, Mega Man Universe, which was going to be a downloadable title released for the PSN and XBox Live, was cancelled for unknown reasons. Many are saddened by this loss, others are glad. Either way, it’s another missed opportunity, and the closest thing to a modernized Mega Man game that may have introduced a new generation of gamers into the series. It had many features for one Mega Man game. Not just a modernized build of Mega Man 2 using 2.5D graphics, Mega Man Universe was to have Character Customization, a first ever feature in any Mega Man game which would allow players to build their very own Robot Masters, or their very own vision of Mega Man using various parts and pieces from other various robot characters from the series. Players could even use other characters from other Capcom games, such as Ryu from Street Fighter, or Arthur from Ghosts and Goblins in their character customization. In addition to being able to change the look of your character, you could also customize the abilities of your characters, and change how you play Mega Man to your own liking. This game would also contain a Level Editor, which would allow players to customize their very own stages, and online sharing, which would allow players to publish their levels, as well as download others' through an online sharing network. Many complaints regarding the games' art direction and controls could have been easily refined and fixed. The people that were turned off by the art, probably never even considered that the one Mega Man they were probably addressing (the redesign specific to this game) was only one of many, and more incarnations of Mega Man could have been planned, and were yet to be revealed. Also a lot of the sprite and 3d mixtures may have just been from an early build of the game, and could have been changed while in development. If the cancellation was due to the criticism from others, that shouldn’t have stopped Capcom from making the game. Every game gets criticized for something. Mega Man Universe’s development was centered and was to be built using the feedback from others. Whether people praised or criticized the game, Capcom should have been willing to comply to the fans’ feedback like the game was initially developed around, and make changes accordingly, not give up and become doubtful. That is not how a franchise or new game flourishes. Capcom thinks that Mega Man isn't popular here in North America. I truly believe that this isn’t the case at all. I think that this only proves how out of touch Capcom of Japan is with the western market, and how they don’t have the semantics to make claims on us as they have. And I believe their own doubt with the series is a consequence of their own negligence, lack of direction, progression, and innovation, and not by the lack of the support of the fans. You can prove Capcom wrong by showing your support. I know it might seem like a pain to have to motivate a company that should already be well motivated, but times are changing, and I fear Capcom’s negligence will only longer leave the great Mega Man franchise in the dust. While Mega Man Universe might not be your ideal vision of a Mega Man game, no one can deny that this game is currently the closest game in the Classic series to evidently make any new strides and appeal to the new generation with it’s 3D graphics, improved sound, and many features, while appealing to the older generation with it’s simple side-scrolling gameplay. If there is any current game in the Mega Man franchise that was going to push the envelope and sales for the Mega Man franchise, Mega Man Universe is it. This game deserves to be given a chance, much like how the franchise itself deserves. Thank you for listening. For Mega Man!
