One thing to remember, when you're making sprite comics, it's always a good idea to put the frames side by side in left to right order so it can turn out a not-so-big picture. Some people don't put them exactly side by side, but it's in a way that draws your view and gets you interested, yet still containing a small sized picture. (example: some manga aren't just basic blocks side by side. some frames overlap to cause interest or move your direction of view)

I would just LOVE to know where to get a free... I really don't know what words to say but kinda like Flash where you could make sprite movies, that kinda thing. Is it called a GIF animator?:conf:

OH! I need the battlefield where you fight viruses and navis in the MBN series. I have been EVERYWHERE. I simply cannot find the stupid battlefield! I'm ready to make my comic and that's the only thing I need

You could make it with a gif animator, but it would be a pain when you edit it or try to time it right. It's best to buy a copy of Flash if you're going towards movies. Other than that you should start off with strips before going into movies. ;)

As far as gif-animating programs go, you can download this REALLY EASY to use one right off of my freewebs page.

CLICK

As far as the EXE battlefeild goes, I'm sure there's one at Sprites Inc..

Oh yes, a quick warning. DO NOT TRY TO VISIT MY FREEWEBS PAGE. The homepage is cluttered with millions of popups, and is a prank that I pull on my friends. I only use that account to upload stuff I wanna share with my pals.

AHEM... Err, it's obvious I'm a bit ecstatic about having a topic I made pinned, but back TO the topic!

Here's a hint for all beginner sprite comic authors.

LEARN TO SPRITE.

I've seen some god-awful comics out there, and most of them were horrible because the sprites were poor in quality or the author didn't know how to use them. One of the most common spriting mistakes I've seen is the lack of cleanup. This is when a sprite is pasted onto one background with bits and peices of the old background still around it. This is just lazy. You should clean up a sprite by using the "Transparent Background" feature to paste it into a new area.

Here's a little how-to comic I made just now on how to paste using transparancy (For those of you who don't know.)

.... Ummm... well... it's.... original Oo; Afew suggestions to better it though...

- Random Chao, while fun at times, are not really fitting for an action comic

- The bg, you could make it smaller, you know so only the area with the action is shown.

- Gif isn't the best format to save a comic in, I reconmend .png

- Boom? Oo; The explosion pretty much speaks for itself.

- Dialouge is need to set the mood for a comic, slapping stuff together at random won't work.

- The spray tool doesn't really make for the best effects, if you use Paint I reconmend sticking with sprited effects.

- Some sprites, like the Goku you were using, need the person who created it's permission to be used, to see if it's needed you can check the disclaimer on the web page or sprite sheet.

Here's a decent comic I made using only Paint

Okay, I've finally gathered my thoughts on what I want to say about this.

To be perfectly honest, when I first saw your comic, the first thoughts running through my head were something along the lines of...

"What... the... f(bleep)..."

Now, don't feel like I'm starting to flame you. This post is NOT about flaming in any way whatsoever and I'll apologize right now if it seems like that. But seriously, there are some people on the net who are just WAITING for someone like you to post a comic like that so they can totally blast you for no reason other than it makes them feel good, or that they are chronic n00b-bashers and consider it a hobby. I myself have made a few mistakes I'm not too proud of, but I didn't have the wonderful aid that you are about to receive from me. Here's a little list of all the things you could do to improve this comic. YES! It IS salvagable!!!

1. Panels.
Okay, first thing's first. Your panels need border frames. A simple dark, black box will do. Secondly, the panels need to be connected in a straight line if at all possible. The reason for this is simple... You want to give your audience a sense of continueity. And having panels scattered about in random places will give potential readers a feeling that either this comic is incomplete, or that each panel is a comic within itself. It also may give readers the impression that you were too lazy to clean things up.

2. SIZE.
Make sure that the comic itself is the only thing in a posted image, if at all possible. Leave as little empty space as possible. I suggest getting rid of that triangle thing at the bottom, or putting it in it's own panel. You should create a "Panel Set", which is basically a line of empty boxes in which you will place the various scenes of your comic. Then you work on your comic, placing things in each box as you want them to appear.

3. Plot.
Why are your characters fighting? How and why did Metabee suddenly transform into Super-Sonic right after being blasted? Where did all the Chao go? These are important questions you need to ask yourself in order to create a better comic. For instance, you could say that Super Sonic was travelling in a robot Metabee disguise in order to sneak up on Goku. Goku knew it was him so he blasted the guy to kill him off, but Super Sonic was too powerful and then obliterated him, or something along those lines. Also, I notice that in panel-2, the explosion was rather large and filled up the screen. Apparantly, it was enough to kill off the chao. However, the attack that killed Goku was not quite as impressive... You'll have to rethink that part.

4. Dialogue.
"Dialogue" is simply a fancy word for "talking". Everything your characters say and think is dialogue, which is usually displayed in text bubbles or think clouds. Of course, a plot cannot advance without proper dialogue. Think of what your characters are going to say depending on what's going on. Like, if you go with my previous idea, in the first panel you could have Goku say, "I know it's you, sonic!" And then blast him, and then in the third panel, sonic could say something like, "Hah, you were too weak!". While these aren't the greatest lines in history, they do add a little, if anything, to your comic.

5. NO AIRBRUSHING.
Although it's nice to think it, the Airbrush tool is simply not a good tool to use at all. People may think that it's good to use if you want to make a cloud, or an explosion, or an energy aura of some sort, but it really isn't. Just try to avoid the airbrush at all costs.

This is all I can muster up at the moment. Just follow that advice for now and see where it gets ya.

~FlareMan:
You can always download an SNES emulator, get the MM7 game ROM and try to rip the sprites yourself. It's really not too hard.

I suggest that you move up to editing if you want to start customizing. Your best bet is to try splicing. It's a technique where you take some sprites and you mix parts. Of course, you have to be very careful what parts you mix because some just REALLY don't look right when you put them together. Like, putting a really small head on a really huge body should be an obvious one.

Here's an example.

This is a Robot Master I made called GoldMan. If you scroll down to the "Artists Comments" box just beneath the image, you can see what sprites and their parts I used to make him. It's really easy to make a customized sprite once you try a few. But if you're talking scratchwork, then that's a WHOOOOOLE 'nuther ballgame.

Here's the spriting topic where your post would be more appropriate...
