An X9, ehhhhh....

Personally I think they ruined the series with the 3D transition. But what else could they do in todays gaming world? So they should leave it dormant. Unless they want to make the new ones download only, and use sprites. That'd be nice.

For me, it depends on how much they're willing to bend, but a 3D Mega Man game can be good.

Though a new SNES graphic style X game would certainly keep me happy. The SNES X games were so damn good, I wouldn't mind another new one.

I've said this before, but I liked the PSX games a lot more over the SNES ones. The 16-bits games look a bit generic, the 32-bits titles have a stronger personality. That might be because there were few 2D games in that era, but still.

Eh. I think part of what made the SNES games good, was that the gameplay was much faster paced than the PSX games. Not that the PSX games were slow.

But of course the PSX sprites had more personality, if that's your thing.

Something about playing the PSX games just feels off to me. I can't really name what it is about it, maybe it's a speed issue like Arkane mentioned, but it feels off.

Maybe that, mixed with the bigger sprites versus smallish level layouts?

Kind of suffers from the same problems as the Game Boy Mega Man games. The same even goes for Mega Man 7 and 8, even though I love 7, and 8 was pretty good. The Game Boy games were great, considering their limitations.

A 3d MM can be good, that's been proven with Legends.

But whats-his-face is all "Legends is not profitable boo hoo" and uses excuses to avoid making a new one, while they make shitty MM games like ZX and Star Force and X7.

Legends was honestly one of the best MM series

Word. On all accounts.

Legends was probably the last original concept with the Mega Man franchise. Everything else was after it is either a spin-off, a rip-off, or lacked any real creativity and originality.

I think the only thing MML is guilty of is not establishing the Original Series' formula enough.

Imagine how much cooler MML would be if you could chose the order you want to do the dungeons in, leaving in all of the exploration aspects of MML1 and 2(having to actually get to the desired dungeon first), has side-missions/quests/dungeons, acquire weapons/abilities from the giant 3-D bosses the Legends Series is known to have (not necessarily consisting of Robot Masters/Mavericks), exploit enemy weaknesses via rock-paper-scissors formula and kept the level up/upgrade/equipping system from the other Legends games.

The Legends games are still good, but could be so much more. And the formula to establish this is right under Capcom's nose.

I'd like to argue against this. Mega Man Battle Network came after Legends, and that one sure was innovative in it's own right. As much as you can claim that the sequels and spin-offs got tiring, the core concept is something that I haven't seen very often in a game. The dual "real world" / "online network" idea was an interesting change from what we usually see, and a nice mirror of how the Internet is currently evolving.

I guess so. It is pretty consistent with the whole internet fad, at least for it's time.

But honestly, I personally think the whole purpose for the Battle Network series firstly being constructed was merely a means for Capcom to cash in on the very popular Pokemon series and strategy gaming to the handhelds. It was a surefire plan.

It did have some merit, like you said, the two worlds in opposition.

Seriously though, an online Battle Network game would have been fantastic, as oppose to releasing sequels that eventually got tiring. You can't get much more "consistent" with an online based concept then to actually make it just that.

After this new BN/SF game, what could be next. Since there is a high demand from fans, for L3 and X9. Between the two, it is hard to say which I would want next, but I think L3 is needed a little more.

I myself have always like the 16-bit for X. Probably because he started out on SNES quality. 32-bit works quite well, but I agree with the speed issue, along with the size of some sprites. BUT, sometimes the TV size can give off that feeling.

What I REALLY want, Graphic Modes.

Such as Easy Mode would be 8-bit.
Normal Mode would be 16-bit.
Hard Mode would be 32-bit.

I know, that is alot of programming. But dang it, IT would truely worth the wait.

This wouldn't really work for an eventual X9. While the idea is fun, and I can see that happening in a side game, it wouldn't make sense within the main plot. You have to consider that an entire century happened between the Original and X series; that's a lot of time for technology to evolve. The Robot Masters and friends would be completely outmatched compared to the Maverick Hunters. Take X as an example: he's equipped with a Mark 17 Mega Buster, which would most likely outclass everything else from that era.

Mega Man Legends already has that, no? It was the core idea of that series: make the transition to 3D, much like most other series at the time.

You weren't suppose to take it serious, by the by;

If an X9 game were made, they'd have so many different graphical styles to choose from, just like they did when they tried experimenting with X7, I wouldn't put it past them that they wouldn't try something stupid.

With the lost of Keiji Inafune, there is no telling what might happen to any future Mega Man game(legends included). This man had intended the X series to end with X5, but moved to another department, only to have X6 created without his knowledge. Good job, Capcom, plot continuity go.

Akira Kitamura was the original creator and designer of Mega Man, but after MM3, no one knows(As far as I can tell) what happened to him.

Capcom has made a lot of bad choices, and with the direction they're going with many of their games right now, perhaps it would be better off if they didn't continue to bastardize the series, if some team did pick up or get the go ahead for X9, I hope it'd be some company with a good rep on their games.

You know, considering what Capcom is doing, with the Legends series in the Devroom.

I was thinking, They might do the same thing with X9. Where the fans can get into contests to have thier Maverick or New X Armor in the game. In general though, let the fans help build the product, that they like to buy.

Now there would be a project I wouldn't mind getting in on. Legends 3 is a bit too complex for me, and the only thing Capcom seems to be looking for at the moment are Reaverbot designs. Ideas are more my thing anyways, namely game related.

Another thought that I recently had. The next X game doesn't have to be X9, I want another side story. Like an event between X4 - X5 or X6-X7.

There are still gaps in the main story line, to possibly squeeze some more games in.

Or, convert the Megamission Card series, into actual games. I would buy that in a heart beat.

Both of the "in-between games" and "MegaMission" ideas could be realized with a Mega Man Xtreme 3 or 4. Such games, done for the PSP and/or 3DS in the style of Maverick Hunter X would have a lot of potential. For example, the X4-X5 in-between game could focus on the Repliforce disaster aftermath and the transition to the new Maverick Hunters organization under Signas.

There's another way to cover that with my aftermath scenario: a flashback. Considering that Magma Dragoon's betrayal played a key part in the whole chain of events, his battle could be inserted after defeating, say, four of the core mavericks while X/Zero think back about everything that happened.
