Amazingly, I\'m playing the game right now. I got it at the Swap Meet for $10.

I\'m sad to say... It\'s just worth $10. I was hoping since the back says \"emotionally charged\", that the game will be, well, emotionally charged. The problem is that the game introduces characters and then kills them. ...Uh, so, I\'m I suppose to be sad or just the characters in the game? To make an emotional event, you have to be attached to the characters. The only ones that I will feel impact would be the main characters, but they are plagued with stereotypical personalities, roles, and background stories. It\'s too predictable what are going to happen to them. The only people who did give me a kinda unique perspective were Genis and Raine (although I already knew what they were from the beginning of the game). Other events that are suppose to hit as a heart string or a nerve doesn\'t have enough reason to get emotional. In some parts, there\'s no reason why some characters act the way they do. No, I\'m still sensitive. My heart is working. It\'s the game that isn\'t.

The graphics are a plus side. Also the overall dubbing is pretty okay. There\'s still some stiff and unfeeling lines, but doesn\'t happen too often with the main characters. The supporting characters are the problem but it\'s okay. Most likely, the supporting characters are done by the main characters\' VAs. I\'ll have to give them slack.

The translation I can\'t say the same. At times, the characters make no sense during PAs. But what can I say? The translation team had to cut out all the sex talk and alcohol use. But still, the translation needed buffing up.

But the real offense the game makes is that it acts like a Final Fantasy X story merged with a Star Ocean battle system. It only shows (as with most if not all RPGs nowadays) how uninspired and unimaginative game companies are beginning to be. But... Maybe the story will become unique after the first disk (I think I\'m near the end of Disk 1). I better not hold my breath though...

So other than graphics and voice acting, this game doesn\'t have much to offer. I really don\'t know why I\'m continuing to play it. ^^; I guess I\'m just hoping it would get better. I will say, though, when characters make fun of Lloyd, it\'s actually funny. Some of the odd jokes and references in this game are funny. Just making fun of Lloyd is funny actually. The general physical abuse Raine deals out on her little brother AND Lloyd is funny.

My two top fav characters that makes me play on:

Boy, Lloyd is what I consider a \"fun\" character. He\'s predictable, naive, and ignorant to most things, but he means well, honest, and a blossoming hero. I sometimes don\'t like the main story line choices he makes though.

Kratos, your run-of-the-mill dark, brooding, swordsman, is just cool just because. (Actually, there\'s more to it but... yea, I won\'t say anything.)

Sorry for talking you guy\'s ears off. I just had much to say, I guess... o.o`)

Ok woah woah woah. The thing about the Final fantasy 10 story and starocean battle system...it\'s had that from back in the SNES(super famicom)days. Tales and Starocean ran on virtually the same system back in the day, and it seems they still do. About the story what can you REALLY expect it\'s an RPG and most of them have a predictable story 80% of the time. But I still play most all of them and why you might ask....because I can...and I like to be the hero. Also brings back memories of the old days.

With that \'emotional event\' thing; isn\'t it always and for about everyone that they just feel impact with the main characters? Even though people might like the bad guys more, most times, with something \'emotional\' going on, they feel it more when it\'s about the \'Mains\'.

Yeah, the graphics are great. And the dubbing is way better than with the anime on tv.

I dunno about that, since I haven\'t played the Jap version, and I can\'t read it anyway. But it\'s probably true, they do that all the time. Japanese ethics differ from American/European\'s.

Hey! Wasn\'t ToS before FFX? And as J_Hibiki stated, it may seem like Star Ocean to you, but that\'s due to that they started off on the same console. The story is still a bit more original than some FF ones.

People just continue because they\'re curious. Wanna know what will happen next. Or they are just very, very bored.
And yes, Raine slapping everybody is funny. It decreases as you advance in the story, though. And Lloyd always tells Colette to stop apologizing, and does she do? You can guess it.

Hey, aren\'t a lot of so-called \'heroes\' like that in the beginning (or even through the entire game)? That\'s what makes it all funny! Too bad it\'s not very original...

Yeah, Kratos is my fave character. I loved playing as him! I hated it when he left. But I enjoy the times he shows up again.

OMG KRATOS WUZ MY LEAST FAVORITE CHARACTER EVOR!

Yeah, I really hated him. He shows up out of nowhere, fights for like...two seconds, comes back later as an enemy, rejoins for like...two seconds more to help fight enemies you really don\'t even need him for, then dies. Agh. I always hate the dark moody character.

The game was good. Everyone still seems to give it too much credit, I say. Lloyd was a great character, but it\'s been done. I\'ve seen tons of doofy friendship powered heros. It\'s nearly the only male hero formula. Colette was pretty interesting, and I liked Sheena\'s and Zellos\' personalities. Regal I really liked as a character, even though his personality was never really shining. Presea and Genis were ok, but I never really like the little kids either.

Mehe. Colette\'s an ironing board. Yeah, I went back there.:lol:

No way I had the patience to play through the game twice on rental though.

Some are actually still playing, Aim. I feel half the fun spoiled now. -_-;;

You also have the tough badass, but half of the time, he is actually, or becomes, a hero like that.

Yeah, Colette was interesting. And still is, seeing I\'m still just half-way through. I want her to acquire that one \'spell\': Hammer Rain, or something like that. I combination with one of Lloyd\'s special attacks, you can use the strongest Unison Attack EVAH!
I like Sheena as well, but she could\'ve been better. At some point in the game I just passed, around Mizuho in the Overworld Map, Sheena and Lloyd had a talk about the people of Mizuho and their ways. Lloyd wanted to learn these ways as well, but according to Sheena, that could only be if he were to marry someone from Mizuho (like a certain character). Then, we had Lloyd say: \"Okay!\" and Sheena blushed! How many times do you get to see that? She thought he meant to marry her, but Lloyd probably didn\'t know the ful meaning of marriage... the doofus. :P

With Zelos, it\'s love/hate. If I were to meet somebody like that in real life, I\'d hate him REALLY much. But he\'s really funny: \"See? I told you she\'s a violent banshee?\" \"Don\'t hate me because I\'m beautiful!\" \"Loudmouth? What do you mean Loudmouth? I\'ve got a beautiful voice!\"

I can\'t say much about Regal. He\'s okay, I guess. I just loved Genis! He reminds me of myself! I always get slapped by my (younger) sister as well! XD
After Presea turned normal again (just ago) she turned into the kind of person I might get to really like.
Don\'t you just think Genis and Presea\'d make the cutest couple? I mean, okay, Presea\'s about 25, but her mind\'s still that of a 12-year-old, and half-elves grow less fast then humans, right?

Erm...no...just...no. FFX came out before ToS.

Anyway, I have the game. I played it for about a few months...and got bored. It\'s not the type of game you want to play again right after you finished it once. The graphics and the anime cutscenes are nice...but that\'s about it. The story was your typical \"save the world....oh wait, the two worlds!\" plot, which has been used tons of times before.

Spoiler (click to toggle)
And don\'t start about the \"oh, but were the two worlds one in those other games?\" bull...because they actually were <<;

The VAs were ok...but Collete\'s got on my nerves multiple times (main reason I took her out of my party whenever I had the chance).

I love that game..... I beat it a while ago, literally minutes before my friend... Me and my friends usually place each other as characters for things we like, I got Sheena, and my friends got Collette and Raine. What\'s sad is my Collette-like friend tripped and dissconected my computer shortly after. ...Sort of like when Collette trips, and makes Sheena fall..... :lol:
