I was watching sonicx today and started to wonder why sonic is scared of water.I mean he can run on water and I know he cant swim and all or he would swim in the game.Did some thing happen when he was a kid?

Maybe it\'s because he\'s a hedgehog?

If you\'ve ever played a Sonic the Hedgehog game, you\'d know that he can\'t swim.

He can sure as heck hold his breath for a long time, though! No, I don\'t know why he\'s scared of it. I\'ve only seen like one episode of Sonic X.

I think he said something like, \"\'I\'m not afraid of the water, I just don\'t like being wet!\'\"

I have played the sonic games and beat them. and I know he cant swim.

He can\'t run fast in water; he\'s trapped! he knows he will drown if he doesn\'t get out!... or maybe he\'s like Yoshi from the origeonal Mario Bros. show, and has a mental disorder...?

He can run on top of it thats how fast he is.But why dont he do it in the anime though exsept sonic the movie.

That is actually a very good question. Above all else, hedgehogs can swimmers so can easily swim across a garden pond.

Unless this particular hedgehog has had a bad experiance, he should be able to swim...but he can\'t.

But who said the games (etc.) had to make sense?

Maybe it\'s a homage to the games where he couldn\'t swim?

Maybe they\'re confusing hedghogs with cats.

(We could spend hours with these maybes )

Is he just a wimp when it comes to water in the show he runs on water in the comic and he can swim.

If it slows him down how come shadow the flash and impulse can run on water and it dont slow them down.And impulse is faster then sonic and when he is runing he dont vibrate through the water.If he cant swim he can go down in the water and make a wirl wind and shot him up in the air to get air.

Sonic Can run faster than anything alive (In the world of sonic, so don\'t start talking about Impulse or the flash or anything) and has gone into space and through time, but can\'t swim. If time/space is nothing to you and you find somthing that you can kill you, you\'d be scared too.

He needs to be running before he hits the water to run across it, if you drop him in a pool of water he will drown.

And even then, only in certain situations in the games can he run across water. Like in StH3 Hydro City Zone. ^^

Dont forget about sonic advance and sonicr and oh ya the rest of the sonic advance games.

Back in the day, games were created that needed things to kill off the character besides enemies. And of course, lava was the most popular. And once people realized that grassy pastures do not have lava usually, it was replaced with something a bit more believible: water.

Carrying over the same purpose, Sonic was allowed to drown in water, rather than be melted in lava.

My theory is that it is nothing more than a tribute to the games.

I know that.

I dont even like the show.I HATE IT.It has nothing to do with the game exsept sonic adventure 1 and 2.Its for little kids it got bad actors and the art is just scarry.
