I get sick occasionally. We all do. When I\'m down with a cold, the flu, tonsilitis or stabbing pains in my shoulder, I try and get me some good old fashioned painkillers. The problem is my mother\'s a nurse. She\'s been a nurse her whole life, and she probably won\'t stop being a nurse in the forseeable future.
What\'s the point of telling us that? I hear you scream.
The problem with having a mother who is a nurse is that she has seen (almost literally) EVERYTHING. *beep* Anyway, I\'ve digressed slightly. My mum buys these horrible painkillers. Huge round tablet things. I can imagine opening a bottle and grabbing one of these babies one day and finding \'Thou shalt not kill\' inscribed onto it. Because she\'s seen everything, she\'s not going to change her buying habits because her sons can\'t manage to swallow something that large without having the constitution of Jenna Jameson.
Shit, digressed again. The point is, these painkillers are your generic pharmecy product drugs. Not the professional stuff like Panadol. That\'s the problem with this comic. It\'s generic and boring (and difficult to swallow). Let\'s have a look at comic #1. Illustrations taken out of \'How to Draw Manga and Anime!\', text apparently inputted in MS Paint, and a joke I saw coming a mile away (nevermind the oh-so-funny \'Bass is gay\' tack-on at the end - comedy GOLD). It\'s generic. Your art and writing aren\'t standing out, and that turns readers off. Look at Penny Arcade, PvP or VC Cats. Their art almost jumps off the page. I could look at any picture Gabe draws and KNOW it was his. Or, if you insist on drawing manga, check out Fred Gallhager\'s Megatokyo. Say what you like about the comic post-Largo, but Fred\'s comic has personality. You\'d know it if you sat across from it on the train. The same cannot be said for STAGE SELECT.
I\'m very impressed that you decided to bestow upon me your very first post.

That also leads me to believe are either 1- sent by someone. 2- Someone\'s sockpuppet.
I\'m not a \"manga artist\". I happen to know how to draw. Comic #1 was also 3 years ago. Take the first comic, compare to the latest. There\'s quite a step.
You state Megatokyo... That comic is not quite what I call quality. It\'s more like an overhyped train of... yea, stupid otakus. Gawd I hate otakus!
That post was to the very least interesting. Thank you for your input.
PS: I\'d also note that the joke of the first comic is 100% heterosexual, since I am a woman. Whoops?

I wasn\'t sent and there is - to the best of my knowledge - nobody\'s hand up my arse. I came halfway across the Internet to bust out a review, purely out of boredom (and I was putting off doing an assignment).
Your artstyle hasn\'t changed much over three years, to tell you the truth. And if you\'re not a manga artist, what do you call an artist who draws stuff in a manga style? That\'s like claiming not to be a vegetarian but refusing to eat meat (which of course is murder).
You\'re absolutely right. I did state Megatokyo. I also stated \'tablet\', \'bottle\', \'mother\' and \'and\'. It\'s pretty interesting that you don\'t think Megatokyo is quality - what would you define as quality? Art conforming to a standard template? I can look at something Fred\'s drawn and KNOW it\'s his. I can spot Hawk\'s art in a police lineup. Your style has slimmed down a bit, your shading\'s improved - but it\'s still generic. I could name half a dozen friends who produce similar work in the margin of their lecture notes.
Finally, my apologies. What I took for a gay joke was in fact a fangirl self-insertion joke.
EDIT: Fixed a grammar error. How the fuck do you chaps manage to post properly with such a small input field?
