So I have some CDs that tell me I can learn Japanese in my sleep...Well as some of you might know from an OLD topic I know more than one or two japanese words, but my conversation skill suck. Well as part of the cd training program it tells me I will learn new words and how to hold conversation...I'll bet they will be simple as all get out but that's not the point.

I'll update this about once a day and tell you how it goes, I honestly don't think it'll work much if at all seeing as I'm old now but we'll all find out together I guess.

So post away and yeah let's all go on a magical lanuage adventure.

It's a very sound theory, or so I hear. Your brain actually works really hard while you sleep, so I wouldn't be surprised if it works.

You're never too old to start learning something new.

That might be useful. I can never learn new things quickly. ^^;; Plus, I sleep about 12 hours so... yeah it might work for me. xD

ok night one....I don't note any change in my Japanese, I was listening to some japanese conversations today, and I understood some words that seem new, but they might have just been some that I have not been around a lot and just happen to remember for a long time ago.

So let me tell you about CD one: it has 36 lessons in each they give you a set of 10 words in your left ear they say it in english and in your right ear they say it in japanese, then they say the japanese word again. after the end of every 6 lessons they have a conversation that has all the words they have said up to that point. for someone very new to a language that could really be a big help.

ok I have anoth CD but I'll use this one till the weekend is over then start on the second CD

And just for ou saiyanprince5 the old topic you should be able to find a lot of words in that. I'm 99.87% sure they are all right because Hollow and/or Necro never corrected me and it seems they know more than I do

I remember the episode of the Simpsons where Homer was going to get subliminal weight loss CDs, but he got vocabulary builders instead. A good episode it was.

Yeah but I've read a couple studies that say children under 10 can learn a new language much better than an older person, I'm sure this will work in SOME way but we'll have to see...

I wish I could do this is a language that I don't know at all but I don't have a cd for that...so looks like that's a no go.

Let me see this is like 3 nights and no change at all..no new words no new mad Japanese skillz that I can tell...ok for real I need to get me a cd on a whole new language and see just how much one can learn with subliminal learning ONLY....I don't know but I'm not going to give up I'll do it for 2 more weeks and see what happens

Well, it's only been three nights...then again, I don't think subliminal learning works all by itself. Perhaps if you reinforced it with your own teaching, the subliminal part enforces it.

I've heard about this before. It isn't a sound theory, and, as Hibiki experienced, not very well working in practic.


Hope for you it'll go better in the future, or that you can get your money back. =/


PS. Dexter's Lab was awesome. I saw 'was', since I haven't seen it on television since long. But still, it did.

i saw on television they did an experiment with this theory

a woman was to lay in bed, sleep, with a CD on with a lot of football/soccer info on it (best goals, who-won-this kinda crap). in theory she should learn what was said on the CD. when she woke up she was quized by what she remembered......... nothing.

the whole theory was propably based on dreams that learned the guy new thing and "heard" while he wasa sleeping.

like knowing how to do the laundry by listening to a washingmachine.

Cool! where'd you get those CD's? I can't find them anywhere?
