Just post the text from your favorite confrontation. It can be from a book, a movie, a game, anything! I'll start with mine.

This is from Planescape: Torment when The Nameless One finally faces The Transcendent One (AKA, his mortality). Since you can pick multiple dialogue paths, I just chose the one that I really liked.

Quote:
SO YOU HAVE COME. YOU ARE UNWELCOME HERE, BROKEN ONE.

"What have you done to my friends?"

ARE THEY DEAD? YES. UNLIKE YOU THEY HAVE BUT ONE LIFE. AND THEY WASTED IT FOR YOUR SAKE. THEY DIED FOR YOU AS THEY ALWAYS HAVE. SUCH IS THE WAY OF ALL MORTAL THINGS. IT IS THE FATE OF ALL THAT FOLLOW YOU, BROKEN ONE. YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN MUCH.

"Why did you do it?"

THEY TRIED TO HARM ME. HERE OF ALL PLACES. I DEFENDED MYSELF. IN SO DOING, MORTALITY CLAIMED THEM. THEIR DEATHS WERE BY THEIR OWN HAND. I GAVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEPART THIS PLACE, BUT THEY SEEMED DETERMINED TO HELP YOU, DESPITE THE COST TO THEMSELVES.

"So you killed them."

THE TIEFLING GIRL WAS ESPECIALLY FIERCE IN YOUR DEFENSE. HER FEELINGS FOR YOU BURNED BRIGHTer THAN ELYSIUM'S FIRES. AND THE TANAR'RI... SHE WAS QUITE STRONG. HER TOLERANCE FOR PAIN WOULD HAVE SHAMED THE BAATEZU THEMSELVES. I TOOK NO PLEASURE IN THEIR DEATHS.

"Then why did you do it?"

IT WAS NOT MY WILL. IT WAS NOT I THAT BROUGHT THEM HERE. ALL OF THEM HAD A CHOICE. AND THEY CHOSE TO DIE FOR YOU. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE WAY OF ALL THAT FOLLOW YOU. FOR THEY ARE TORMENTED SOULS, SEEKING A RELEASE. BUT THEY KNOW NOT WHY. YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN THIS. AND YOU SHALL AGAIN.

"I know you for what you are - you are my mortality Your armor - it is twisted like tree branches. Such things speak of Ravel's magicks."

YES. I AM THAT WHICH WAS SPLIT FROM YOU BY THE HAG'S POWER. I AM THAT WHICH WALKS WITH ALL LIFE. MY VOICE IS A DEATH RATTLE, A LAST BREATH IN THE THROAT, THE WHISPER OF A DYING MAN. I HAVE BEEN FREED FROM THE PRISON OF YOUR FLESH.

"Freed from me?"

THE MOMENT I WAS SPLIT FROM YOUR CANCEROUS SHELL, I KNEW LIFE. I KNEW FREEDOM. I SHALL NOT SURRENDER IT TO YOU.

"We were not meant to be seperated. And the Planes have suffered because of our separation."

YOU KNOW NOTHING OF MEANING AND SEPERATION. BEFORE YOUR MEMORY DIES AGAIN, KNOW THAT WE WERE NEVER MEANT TO BE AS ONE. THIS SHALL BE THE LAST TIME YOU AND I SPEAK, BROKEN ONE.

"Then there is something I would know, spirit - I have traveled far, and there are many questions you can answer."

I WILL INDULGE YOU THIS ONE LAST TIME. THEN THIS FORTRESS SHALL BE SILENT AGAIN.

"Then my questions are these"

ASK YOUR QUESTIONS. BUT KNOW YOU SHALL NEVER REMEMBER THE ANSWERS.

"I may be immortal, but Ravel told me the ritual was flawed: Whenever I die, I lose a fraction of my mind. In time, after many deaths, I shall lose the ability to even think for myself."

IT IS OF NO MATTER. YOU CANNOT DIE. YOUR MIND MAY BE LOST, BUT YOUR FLESH WILL LIVE ON. THAT IS ALL THAT IS NEEDED.

"'Needed?' Why?"

WE SHARE A LINK, YOU AND I, HOWEVER SMALL. I DO NOT WISH YOU DESTROYED, ONLY FAR FROM ME.

"Then why have you been trying to kill me all this time?"

IT IS OF NO CONSEQUENCE.

"Wait... those shadows you sent against me – they never succeeded in killing me... but that was never their purpose, was it? They only 'kill' me to make me forget."

THERE IS NOTHING IN YOUR SHELL OF A MIND THAT IS OF CONSEQUENCE, BROKEN ONE.

"Except that – from what the Pillar of Skulls told me, there were only three that knew where you could be found and how to reach you – one is Trias, one’s you, and the other is me. If you kill Trias and I, they’ll be no one who knows who you are and how to find you."

YES, THE ANGEL THAT SHIELDS ITSELF WITH GOLDEN LIES. YOU LED ME TO HIM AT LAST. LIKE YOU, THE BETRAYER WAS DIFFICULT TO FIND. HE WILL DIE THE FINAL DEATH.

"So you used me to find him? You wanted me to kill him, didn’t you, so that his knowledge would die – and then you tried to kill me so I would forget where to find you."

I SEE TIME’S BLADE HAS NOT BLED YOUR MIND OF ALL REASON. MY PURPOSE WAS ALWAYS SUCH: TO MAKE YOU FORGET.

"But why? Why do-"

BECAUSE I NEVER AGAIN WISH TO SUFFER YOUR PRESENCE, BROKEN ONE. YOU ARE AN IRRITATION, A REMINDER OF WHAT LIFE ONCE WAS, AND I DETEST SUCH REMINDERS. I WISH TO BE LEFT IN PEACE IN MY FORTRESS. AS YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN ME, I WISH TO FORGET YOU. FOREVER.

"But I no longer forget things when I die. Perhaps once, but no longer."

YOU LIE. YOU HAVE ALWAYS FORGOTTEN. AND I HAVE ALWAYS REMEMBERED. IT WAS ALWAYS SUCH.

"'Always' doesn't mean what it once did. I have died, time and again, and my memories have returned to me."

YOUR DECEPTIONS WILL NOT SHIELD YOU HERE, BROKEN ONE.

"It is the truth. Killing me won’t stop me – because killing me doesn't make me forget anymore. I’ll know you always, I’ll remember everything you’ve done, how to reach here, and eventually how to destroy you."

THEN I SHALL IMPRISON YOU, NAMELESS ONE. IF YOU WILL NOT FORGET, THEN I SHALL NOT ALLOW YOU TO BE FREE.

"But I already escaped from that crystal prison you threw in my path. You can’t kill me, you can’t hold me, and you can’t make me forget myself any longer."

THEN I WILL FEED YOU TO THE SHADES. I WILL DEFEAT YOU HERE, THEN CAST YOU INTO THE SHADOW GALLERIES, WHERE THEY MAY FEED ON YOU. THEY WILL KILL YOU ACROSS THE SPAN OF SEVERAL ETERNITIES. YOU SHALL NEVER WALK THE PLANES AGAIN.

"Then this is my final question: What can change the nature of a man?"

THE QUESTION IS MEANINGLESS

"Nevertheless, before there is an ending between us, I will hear your answer."

THEN THIS IS MY ANSWER, AND YOU ARE THE PROOF. NOTHING CAN CHANGE THE NATURE OF A MAN.

"If there is anything I have learned in my travels across the Planes, it is that many things may change the nature of a man. Whether regret, or love, or revenge or fear - whatever you believe can change the nature of a man, can."

THEN YOU LEARNED A FALSE LESSON, BROKEN ONE.

"Have I? I've seen belief move cities, make men stave off death, and turn an evil hag's heart half-circle. This entire Fortress has been constructed from belief. Belief damned a woman, whose heart clung to the hope that another loved her when he did not. Once, it made a man seek immortality and achieve it. And it has made a posturing spirit think it is something more than a part of me."

YOUR DEFIANCE WILL HURT YOU MORE THAN ANY WOUND IN THIS PLACE. BELIEF CANNOT CHANGE THE NATURE OF A MAN.

"I think it can. I think belief could even unmake me, if I believed it enough."

YOU DO NOT POSSESS THE FORCE OF WILL FOR SUCH A THING.

"So you admit it's possible."

DO YOU TRY MY PATIENCE BROKEN ONE.

<focus your will inwards, centering on yourself.>

YOU ARE A FOOL TO THINK YOU CAN ACHIEVE SUCH A THING. YOU CAN BARELY KEEP YOUR OWN TATTERED MIND INTACT. THERE IS NOWHERE LEFT FOR YOU TO FALL, BROKEN ONE.

<keep focusing.>

STOP. YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU DO.

"I know what I do. You have tormented me enough, and now it ends."

IF YOU DO THIS THING, WE SHALL BE UNDONE. THERE IS NO ONE FATE HERE. YOU DESTROY US BOTH.

"As I see it, I have two choices - either I kill us both, or I let you kill me again and again, losing what few pieces of my mind I have left. I thing I'd prefer we both die - unless you have a third solution."

THERE IS NO OTHER RESOLUTION TO THIS MATTER.

"I think there is - we can become one again, as we were meant."

YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU DO. IF WE ARE RE-UNITED, THEN IT SHALL BE AN ENDING. THERE SHALL BE NO FUTURE FOR US. WE SHALL GO ON TO FURTHER TORMENTS.

"It is better that happen than the multiverse continues to suffer because of us."

IF WE BECOME ONE, WE SHALL SUFFER. THERE IS TOO MUCH OF THE NATURE OF THE FIRST ONE IN US FOR US TO BE SAVED. WE SHALL BE DAMNED. YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU DO.

"No, I know very well what I do. And I think this is the only answer. Prepare yourself."

KNOW THAT I HAVE ALWAYS HATED YOU, BROKEN ONE. WHEN WE ARE ONE, I WILL CONTINUE TO HATE YOU. WHEN YOUR SHELL DIES AT LAST, KNOW THAT I SHALL TAKE PLEASURE IN YOUR DEATH.

"I can live with that - and so can the planes."

KNOW THAT MY HATRED FOR YOU WILL UNMAKE THE PLANES. PREPARE YOURSELF. WE SHALL BE AS ONE AGAIN -- UNTIL YOUR LAST MOMENTS OF LIFE.

"Before we do, what of my friends? Is it possible to save them?"

I AM MORTALITY ITSELF. THE NATURE OF LIFE AND DEATH IS SOMETHING I KNOW... WELL. WHEN WE ARE ONE, MY KNOWING SHALL BE YOURS.

"Very well. I am ready to become mortal again."

EDIT: Here's hoping the quote tags work this time.

This text is from when V (From the infamous V for Vendetta comic) confronts England as a whole, and bases it on a manager/supervisor to worker idea.

-WARNING-: Long read.

Quote:
Good evening, London. I thought it time we had a little talk.

Are you sitting comfortably?

Then I’ll begin…

I suppose you’re wondering why I’ve called you here this evening. Well you see I’m not entirely satisfied with your performance lately…I’m afraid your work’s been slipping, and…

…And well, I’m afraid we’ve been thinking about letting you go. Oh, I know. I know. You’ve been with the company a long time now. Almost…let me see. Almost ten thousand years! My word, doesn’t time fly? It seems like only yesterday…

I remember the day you commenced your employment, swinging down from the trees, fresh-faced and nervous, a bone clasped in your bristling fist…”Where do I start, sir?” you asked, plaintively. I recall my exact words: “There’s a pile of dinosaur eggs over there, youngster,” I said, smiling paternally the while. “Get sucking.”

Well, we’ve certainly come a long way since then, haven’t we? And yes, yes, you’re right, in all that time you haven’t missed a day. Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Also, please don’t think I’ve forgotten about your outstanding service record, or about all of the invaluable contributions that you’ve made to the company…Fire, the wheel, agriculture…It’s an impressive list, old-timer. A jolly impressive list. Don’t get me wrong.

But…well, to be frank, we’ve had our problems, too. There’s no getting away from it. Do you know what I think a lot of it stems from? I’ll tell you…

It’s your basic unwillingness to get on within the company. You don’t seem to want to face up to any real responsibility or be your own boss. Lord knows, you’ve been given plenty of opportunities.

We’ve offered you promotion time and time again, and each time you’ve turned us down. “I couldn’t handle the work, guv’nor,” you wheedled. “I know my place.”

To be frank, you’re not trying are you?

You see, you’ve been standing still for far too long, and it’s starting to show in your work…and, I might add, in your general standard of behaviour. The constant bickering on the factory floor has not escaped my attention…

…Nor the recent bouts of rowdiness in the staff canteen. Then of course there’s…Hmm. Well, I didn’t really want to have to bring this up, but…

Well, you see, I’ve been hearing some disturbing rumours about your personal life. No, never you mind who told me. No names, no pack drill…

I understand that you are unable to get on with your spouse. I hear that you argue. I hear that you shout. Violence has been mentioned. I am reliably informed that you always hurt the one you love…

…The one you shouldn’t hurt at all.

And what about the children? It’s always the children who suffer, as you’re well aware. Poor little mites. What are they to make of it? What are they to make of your bullying, your despair, your cowardice, and all your fondly nurtured bigotries?

Really, it’s not good enough, is it?

And it’s no good blaming the drop in work standards upon bad management, either…

…Though, to be sure, the management is very bad. In fact, let us not mince words. The management is terrible!

We’ve had a string of embezzlers, frauds, liars, and lunatics making a string of catastrophic decisions. This is plain fact.

But who elected them?

It was you! You who appointed these people! You who gave them the power to make your decisions for you!

While I’ll admit that anyone can make a mistake once, to go on making the same lethal errors century after century seems to me nothing sort of deliberate. You have encouraged these malicious incompetents, who have made your working life a shambles. You have accepted without question their senseless orders. You have allowed them to fill your workspace with dangerous and unproven machines. You could have stopped them.

All you had to say was “No.”

You have no spine. You have no pride.

You are no longer an asset to this company.

I will however, be generous. You will be granted two years to show me some improvement in your work. If at the end of that time you are still unwilling to make a go of it…

…You’re fired.

That will be all. You may return to your labours.

Reality swirled in a wholly blue manner, revealing absolutely nothing of merit. Things flashed madly in and out of existence like some entirely other sort of phenomena. On a whim, Kurt Vonnegut imploded, taking a sizeable hunk of Massachusetts with him. However, seeing as Massachusetts wasn't entirely sure it existed, the chunk wasn't all that big.

My favourite confrontation was the World Cup Match for third place last Friday betwen Portugal and Germany. Wonderful LOL! ^_^

Not a lot of text involved, but you can imagine: 3-1 zur Deutschland.

(Sorry about how long this is)

I'm bumping this topic, because it's relevant. Namely, I have a new one to add. It comes from the end 20th Century Boys.

To set it up, the original Friend (Friend is the primary antagonist) died three years earlier and was secretly replaced by someone else who was also tied to Kenji (the protagonist's) past as well as one of the original's close allies.

Unlike the original, the second one has a grudge against Kenji because when they were kids, Friend V2 won a free "protector of justice" badge from a wrapper and, since the shopkeeper wasn't there he left the winning wrapper and took a badge. Kenji noticed this and stole one as well. The shopkeeper realized one was missing and accused Friend V2, humiliating him in front of everyone.

Flash-forward. In 2001, Kenji went up against the first Friend and disappeared. In 2014, that Friend built a replica of the World Expo of the 70s. It was a holy place to him, since it represented an event he never went to but wanted to. Friend V2 also prevented the assassination of the pope there.

3 years after that, Friend V2 makes his final move to destroy humanity. He admits that he's been pulling tricks this whole time and he's a sham. But it's too late, because now everyone has given him power over the whole world and he's going to blow it up. Kenji's niece evacuates everyone to the Expo grounds, because it's a sacred space for Friend.

But Friend V2 doesn't give a damn about that place. Suddenly, Kenji comes rolling into town. Of course, the reader has been following him on-and-off for the last two volumes, so this isn't a deus ex machina. It was set-up for a while. Kenji confronts him at a replica of their old school as he has positioned a remote-controlled robot to smash his niece, Kanna's house with her in it.

Quote:

*Kenji and co walk into the courtyard where Friend is standing. Masked as usual*

Maruo: Friend!

Friend: Hey... glad you could make it, Kenji-kun. What's this about this "Protector of Justice"? What you see on the monitor there... is being shot from a camera on the robot.

*shows apartment buildings*

Mangaka: Ah... Th...this is out apartment complex... Tokiwa Apts!

Friend: Your cute little girl is sleeping there right now.

Kenji: ...!

Maruo: Kanna!

Friend: If I move the remote like this, I wonder what will happen...

Kenji: Stop it.

*falls to his knees*

Please, stop it.

Friend: What's this... "Protector of Justice" business? Remember! You're the one who's evil, Kenji-kun!

*meanwhile, a former brainwashed member is flying a helicopter towards one of the UFO-esque disease-carriers that's spreading the virus, in an attempt to crash into it and destroy it.*

Friend: Kenji-kun... I can't just let you forget. You're the one... who is Lord of all evil! If you don't remember, I'll step on your cute little girl!

Mangaka: Tokiwa Apts...!

*flashback mixed with Kanna waking up and yelling at the robot to stop it, thinking it's the same one that "took her uncle away"*

Kenji: I... remember everything

Friend: Huh...?

Maruo&Mangaka: !?

Kenji: I didn't forget anything at all...

Friend: Wh...What? The remote control.... It's... it's all because you're talking strange all of a sudden... The remote control is acting up...!

*robot does stop death-march*

Friend: The robot might be stopped, but you're too late. Where do you think those saucers are going? I know Fukubei really well. I've been with him a long time, so it's like he's a part of me. But, Fukubei's concerns aren't mine. I really don't care what happens over there...

Maruo: Over there...?

*revealed to be the World Expo grounds. Meanwhile another friend of Kenji's, Otocho, has managed to get to the gun inside the robot and trying to shoot down one of the three saucers*

Kenji: I'm sorry. I've regretted it all this time.

Friend: Stop...

Kenji: I just couldn't bring myself to say it all this time...

Friend: Stop.

Kenji: I'm sorry...

Friend: Why did you have to remember!? If you apologize then everything is over!

Kenji: It's all over now. Our game is all over now. I'll tell everyone at the World Fair Exposition what I did. I'll tell them everything. Let's end it all right there.

Friend: *it should be noted that he's been, in both incarnations, relatively calm. Now he's just having a complete meltdown*

*holding up a remote* Like I'm going to let you end this, you bastard! When I press this button on the controller, the saucers will head to the exposition center!

KenjiCo: !!

Friend: The expo will become a sea of blood! No one will be there to hear your confession!

Kenji: It's all over now. Stop it!

Friend: It's not over! I can't let it end for someone as treacherous as you...

KenjiCo: !!

*Sadakiyo, the shy loner that was bullied into doing everything both Friends wanted, but stuck through those abusive relationships because they were the only friends he had grabs Friend from behind and solves the debate within himself once and for all*

Sadakiyo: I'm... a Good guy. (I know, this sounds a bit ridiculous, but if you read the whole thing it makes a lot more sense)

*Otocho gets a saucer*

Sadakiyo: I'm... a good guy... let's die together.

Maruo: Sadakiyo!

Kenji: Let go. Cut it out already. You too, Sadakiyo. Give me the knife. I'm sorry. So please... let's finish this.

Sadakiyo: Kenji...

Maruo: Kenji...

Ex-cult member: I can see it... I can see "Friend"! So this is it! This is where I become one with the cosmos!

*he crashes into the saucer, and the debris crashes down into the courtyard*

Kenji: Get out of there, Sadakiyo!

*Otocho headshots the last one*

Cult member: *dying* I can see clearly... So this is it... this is how it feels... I understand...? "Friend". I am... I am not #13. I am... Tamura... Masao. Oh... I do not see... much more. I am... what... *dies*

*Mangaka artist and Maruo look for Kenji, who's dragging Sadakiyo out of the ruins*

Kenji: Can you help me out?

*Maruo does, but the Mangaka decides to be a lazy bastard*

Maruo: Sadakiyo... You're going to be fine. Don't worry, Sadakiyo.

Sadakiyo: O-Ok. I did a good job, right?

Kenji: Yes you did Sadakiyo.

Sadakiyo: I... will you let me be in your group?

Kenji: What are you saying? You've been with us the whole time.

Sadakiyo: Forgive me... forgive me...

Maruo: It's OK. Just rest

Mangaka: Kenji! Uh... Look here.

Friend: Ken...ji... Let's... play.

Kenji: I already told you... the game is over. The mask means nothing now.

Friend: Don't... everything will end... don't our game will...

Kenji *removes the mask* It's over.

Maruo: N-no, this can't be possible. Fukube died. Otocho saw his dead body. Plastic surgery...? (That's a yes, incidentally) You... who are you?

Friend: Kenji... knows about it... right, Kenji? That song... can you sing it?

*he does Friend dies at the end*

Kenji: Is this what concerned you? I never thought you would die in this manner. Forgive me...

Maruo: Do you know who this man is?

Kenji: I do not know who he is... I don't know.
