Yeah. Apparently some scientists are attempting to build some sort of 'Black Hole Generator' or some sort of sci-fi thing like that.

It says 'probability of destroying the world is very low'.

If they have to say that...that just makes me REALLY worried.

There’s always a problem of black holes either to grow or to explode, but really, there’s hardly any reason to worry. You’ll need a whole lot of energy to create one (most likely the magnitude that human inventions can’t mimic).

If we are able to create and control one, though, that can solve a critical problem in the world. Infinite energy generator, anyone? I’ve dreamed of having a black hole in my closet. ^^

Different dimensions don’t interest me. If dimensions were separate for a reason, it's probably not good to mess around with them.

Scientists have created mini black holes before. They were the size of a few atoms, and evaporated in less than 1% of a second. There's nothing to worry about, here. A black hole needs a LARGE amount of mass to be working, more than what is available on Earth.

for a little black hole you need 100x our planets matter and mass, and compress it and it won't be bigger than the size of a point of a needle.

it's impossible for us to do it. and if, strangely enough, we were able to develop one, the entire planet will be destroyed, along with the rest of our solar system,

i say, i DONT want to die

Erm, why would it?....

Anyways, if this works I know what will happen, it would make miniature worlds, that stupid people like Bush or should I say Dictator Wannabes, could yell at, and make their own "Perfect" world. Blond hair and Blue eyes for Hitler, People dumber than himself for bush. We would need to shrink people for the mini worlds too.. Hopefully the dumbasses...

Yeah, everything in that post is agreeable. XD

Yeah, if we did manage to create and maintain a black hole, we'd solve our energy crisis forever. No more dinosaurs for us!...but then, of course, how would we power the machine that creates the black hole? Maybe it's perpetual motion! We'd find out so much crud on that day.

As for the different dimension thingy, I'd love to find a different dimension of the Earth. Then I could track myself down and we could rule the world- I mean, uh...no, actually, that's exactly what I mean. The idea of different dimensions has always appealed to me, and the fact that there might be other mes give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

...Have we learned nothing from Half Life? HAVE WE LEARNED NOTHING?!? CASCADE RESONANCE, PEOPLE! WHAT THE F**CK!

All I can honestly think about here is the movie "The One". I don't want some psycho killer me from another dimension coming to ice me. That's scary, man. Not to mention the chance of destroying the world is "very low". If I've learned anything, it's that Murphy's Law is a bitch. And that's all I have to say about that.

We're all going to die.

Reality swirled in a wholly blue manner, revealing absolutely nothing of merit. Things flashed madly in and out of existence like some entirely other sort of phenomena. On a whim, Kurt Vonnegut imploded, taking a sizeable hunk of Massachusetts with him. However, seeing as Massachusetts wasn't entirely sure it existed, the chunk wasn't all that big.

Yeah. In order to destroy the world, they'd need more energy than the world has. I think we'd know if we found a way to generate that much.

I dont think that is what it means by dimensions. i think it means something else as in like 3 dimensions and 4-d and stuff. NOt like an Alternate universe where everyone is evil and has goatees

Well, in the context/meaning of 'dimension' as Kevin stated, there is a theory our universe, though perhaps just on a really small, sub-atomic level, may be 11-dimensional.

If you've ever heard of string theory, it's actually quite probable, because you need that many different dimenions to hold the strings... or something like that... I need to freshen up on string theory.

I don't really think that time should be measured along with length, width and height.

Okay everyone, what happens when idiot humans up and mess with other dimensions and forces beyond our ultimate control? I really don't care how low the planet destruction probability rate is - it could be 1 in 99,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999 ,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999 and I still wouldn't support it. As much bad as we've done, if we're gonna die, it's not gonna be our doing.

But of course, I agree with Doc that even if this does go, it's been done before and is safe (sorta). I've got enough to worry about, save this. I'm not losing a wink over it.

Please, don't integrate politics into this. Even if you dislike the people at the head of our government, they do deserve a good amount of respect - when's the last time you had to go to 2 different countries for a bumload of meeetings in one day? I'm not gonna say my opinion, it's my business, but let's let that be settled. [/serious discussion]
