One of the big things made possible with the current (or last, depending how you count) generation of game consoles was how companies could release the same title on all three consoles without changing much. There would be a different control scheme, obviously, but further than that and a few graphic (and sometimes characters) differences, you'd get the same title no matter which console you chose.

I suddenly realized not too long ago that I have almost none of those multi-platform releases. My list stops at Sonic Heroes for the games that came out on all three systems. I also happen to own both Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, which shouldn't count since the Dreamcast was dying when they came out on GameCube. Besides that, I have Mega Man X: Command Mission, which was for both the PS2 and GameCube.

Who here bought more than a few of those games? Was it useful for you that you could choose the console to play your games on, or did you just end up buying single or double releases like me?

I always prefered playing sport games on the PS2 for some reason. Other than that, I bought the GC version of most games (mainly because I acquired a PS2 much later on). Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, Soul Calibur 2, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, etc.

I buy a couple, but not many as Air said, I buy normally for a specific platform. I do buy the games I buy for GC on PS2. I.e MMX Collection. If I can help it, but otherwise, not many.

I don't get more than one copy of the same game. The only instance is Megaman Legends. I might also get Command Mission for the Cube if I find a good used copy.

I'm usually happy with the version that I get (which is most often than not, the Playstation version). When choosing, I pick controls over anything less. If I can't get use to the controls, how am I going to play the game? (Example: Ocarina of Time, I can't get use to the 64 controller's analog stick. It's too far away for my little girly hands! XP So I am planning to get the Cube version someday.)

mostly im fine with the first version i buy.

the biggest problem was with Soul Calibur III, since i had SC2 on the Gamecube, but i changed the controls ingame and now it works fine.

but i don't have that much games that are released on several consoles. most of them are GC, PS2 or Xbox exclusive.

70% of the multi console titles i own, are GC versions.
