Simply a small introduction to those wondering how the game differs compared to the EXE series.
The world, both the human and virus infested ones, act as a whole, with the wave roads acting as an "upper layer"
With the goggles off, the world appears as a normal person would see it, but with them on, you can see the wave roads, and as such be able to check the location of certain things before actually entering the world, saving alot of time compared to that of Battle Network.
Geo enters the wave roads by standing on a circular field in the human world, the Star Force Equivelent of Jacking In.

That explains the things of importance of the overworld, so now comes combat.
Obviously, the biggest change is the 2-D to 3-D overhaul. You can move left or right, and can guard against attacks as a default ability, rather than a navi cust program. By pressind down on the D-Pad, you can lock-on to enemies, allowing more effective melee attacks.
PA's no longer exist, and are replaced by custom cards. What these allow you to do is create a string of cards and put them into a single card that dims the screen, allowing them to be executed onto a specific enemy without any interruptions, and can also be custom named.

BEWARE. CHEESY DIALOGUE IN MOVIE.
Chip codes are also gone, replaced with a system that allows you to pick one chip, and chips at the left, right, up or down from it, depending on the conditions. This can harm the type of player who makes a specific deck of one type of chip code, and can help those who found them troublesome...but, there is no more "PICK ALL 5!" type of scenarios anymore.
And FINALLY is the buster. You can hold down the button for a rapid-fire function, or leave it untouched for it to auto charge. The buster, unlike the EXE's navicust/ powerup system, is changeable, meaning there is no 5,5,5 buster, however, this allows busters that sometimes make the opponent blind, paralyze them, etc.
(Refer to first video for example)
Yeah, basically, despite being a series sequel, it doesn't have that much similarity to the gameplay of EXE at all if you look at it.
So, there's the differences, discuss if you wish.
