And until it does, your statement shall remain incorrect.
It's only a matter of time. Capcom tends to milk the hell out of their franchises and then leave 'em to die or wallow in mediocrity, adding a few little things here and there to make them seem "new".
Megaman? Dead except for handheld releases, and those still retread ground constantly.
Street Fighter? Dead, until someone got the balls to try and put out Street Fighter 4. What about all those versions of Street Fighter, you ask? Lazy money sinks designed to milk the hell out of the one game. They don't count. Thus, dead.
Resident Evil? It's a different case, I'll admit. RE4 put it back on the map and actually shook things up. Still, we'll have to see if it'll continue to change things around every so often.
Devil May Cry? Well, we're at DMC4 right now, and from what I've seen, there doesn't seem to be anything that's really changed. Hell, the protagonist of that game is a straight up Dante clone. It may be good now, but the well's gonna run dry eventually, I predict.
Excuse me if I sound bitter, but I don't expect anything but eventual suck from each franchise Capcom creates. It's happened before. Phoenix Wright may be super nifty keen right now, but get ready to play the same game OVER AND OVER for a lot more to come. Mind you, nothing's neccessarily wrong with repeating same game models (and more intelligent to do), but the best game developers still try to mix things up and experiment with different concepts.
EDIT: Oh, and let's not forget Ghosts n' Goblins, a franchise that likes to dick you over by making you beat it TWICE just to beat it once all the way through. That's just plain fail.
