You know, this is the kind of thing that will get some people around here to sigh and mutter "Americans..." 
Ultimately though, it sounds like a form of community work so it musn't be so bad. The presentation is what really stands out!

That's a pretty awkward and funny story, but I can (somewhat) understand the motivation behind it and "Razorhawk's" reason for doing charity work costumed. It does make it more memorable for the people who see you doing community work, and kids (especially comic book lovers) are likely more inspired by such a person than a non-costumed person doing the same thing. Though I can only imagine how embarrassed the kids of some of this people might be...
