I don't know what to think of this one. I own the originals for the GC and I'm not so sure if adding the Wii Remote functions is going to make that much of a significant difference. Or maybe it will, and Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 for the GC will just take up space on my shelf.

Japan release date is Feb 19 09. TBA for US.

When I first heard about that batch of "GameCube games with cool Wii controls!!!1", I thought it was a bad joke. There's one problem that I see, here: all of these games can already be played on the Wii since it's backward compatible!

Of course, new controls can make a good game even better if done correctly. From the list of games that I've seen, the two Metroid Prime games make the most sense: we've already got a working version in Metroid Prime 3, and that game might be the best console FPS game I've ever played. Getting the same controls in the two previous games will definitely NOT drag them down, but it's debatable if that alone is worth the price.

On my end, I don't know what I'll be doing with this. I already own and played through the three games. I've unlocked Hard Mode in the first title, but I can't even be bothered to try it out. If I don't feel like trying a new mode, will I enjoy playing it with new controls? I have my doubts.

What I really hope for, and will be included if Nintendo is wise, is the possibility to import your GameCube save games to the Wii version. That would be neat.

That would be great. What else would be nice is if they sold them together, in a two-pack kind of deal, on their own separate discs and in their own individual cases as if they were going to be sold individually. That might make more people buy it, since buying two games individually at retail price can be a lot more discouraging. Considering these games have already been previously released for a previous console, and the only big difference is the controls, it would be a nice deal from Nintendo to give to us for expecting us to buy the same games again, to say the least.

I gotta be honest though. Metroid Prime 3, although having some of the most innovative controls I've ever seen in an FPS, on a console that isn't made by Microsoft or Sony no less, the game.....actually gives me motion sickness. No joke! I need to take frequent breaks from this game. And the thought of playing the first two games over again, as if that wasn't enough by itself, I'd have twice as much queasiness to endure!

With that said, I wouldn't mind so much a Luigi's Mansion remake using the Wii Remote functions either. Think about it. You could use the Wii Remote for the Poltergust 3000, and use the Nunchuck for the flashlight. Good stuff. Do this Nintendo. You know you want to.

I called it!

I never imagined they'd re-release Metroid Prime 3, however.

I wonder if all of the games will be compatible with both the Wiimote/Nunchuck and Gamecube controllers.

That would be a nice transitional option.

I don't think that will be happening here, but look at it this way. You get to experience the games again in a whole new light.

All right, now we're talking! I'm still undecided on this (I do own the three games already, after all), but this is a great move on Nintendo's part. The titles will have a completely even presentation through the trilogy, and purchasing them all at once is more interesting than buying them individually across a few months. I'm impressed at how well the Metrod Prime franchise has been handled overall.

Who knows, the new controls might just be what's needed to make that darned Dark Torvus Bog area playable.

You have trouble with Dark Torvus Bog, doc? Heh. The only thing there that was annoying was the scarcity of crystals there.

The area I hated the most was the Sanctuary/Hive areas, but that's only because of my dislike of all types of sky levels. D:

I beat the game, but I hated the Dark Torvus Bog area with a passion. You say that you dislike sky-type levels; on my end, it's the water/swamp-like levels that I don't enjoy. Having a whole area done in that fashion wasn't fun. Out of the three games, that's definitely the single part that I really don't look forward to replaying.

New trailer.

You know, for years fan claimed that Nintendo wasn't giving the Metroid franchise the attention it deserved. Now that some years have gone by, I think that Nintendo has done a great job with the franchise, avoiding crappy games while focusing on raw quality. Between this and Metroid: Other M, I think we're being spoiled a bit.

Karma perhaps? We had to deal without a Metroid 64. But yeah, this is a little too good.

I find it pretty stupid how we'll have all of the individual Metroid Prime games right next to this game in our collections.

Ah well. How many versions of Mega Man games do you think we all bought? :P

The final confirmation: even the existing saves for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption are not compatible with the Trilogy. Oh well, I can live without that.

I bought this game just today. Problem is, my Wii is being sent in for repairs due to static issues on my WiiWare games, so I won't be playing it for a while. I think the system may have overheated, and therefor corrupted the circuitry relative to displaying the WiiWare games from inside the system. The climate and humidity has been quite intense as well. Plus by the fact that my Wii console sits 2 cm away from the TV I play it on, I'm sure adds a contributing factor to the whole ordeal. It has nothing to do with my display settings; all of my WiiWare games have been working and displaying perfectly up until recently.

Funny thing is, my Virtual Console games are totally fine, as are the disc-based Wii games I own.

Anyways, the metal case for Metroid Prime Trilogy is definitely awesome. Inside, aside from the instruction manual, it also contains a small fold out with Metroid art on one side, and the Metroid Prime series story told on the other.

Can't wait to get my Wii back and start playing this one(s)!

(I really hope all of my game data can be saved if worst comes to worst with my Wii situation.)

Why should I ask myself if I should buy the game... if I can't BUY the game?

The article is in French, but basically, it says that the Metroid Prime Trilogy can't be sold in Quebec since it's packaging isn't bilingual. A law was passed many years ago forcing the publishers to release their games with a French option if a French edition exists (understand here: if the same game is sold somewhere else in the world in French). In any case, the package needs both languages to be approved. Considering that the Trilogy's all in English, and that it's getting released in France in about 3 weeks, it was blocked here.

Now, the question is: why didn't Nintendo include, in the worst case, a bilingual slipper over the game's packaging? I'm a bit surprised at this, since Nintendo has been taking care of the local market for a long time (I've got bilingual NES instruction booklets at home). Capcom has an elegant solution to this: they include a slightly oversized French booklet with their DS games, which they include at the back of the game's case. It "translates" the box without requiring a new core package to be done.

The article has been updated with an official answer from Nintendo Canada. Since this is a time-limited special edition, they've decided to skip over the market in Quebec. A few retailers have it for sale, but their stock isn't coming from Nintendo directly.

Oh well. I'm sure that Amazon or other retailers won't mind sending it to me if I decide to place an order!

So, I'm able to finally play this again now that a brand new Wii with my preserved data has come back to me.

Well, shit. As far as games go, this is one of the most epic compilations of all time.

You know what would really top it all off? A Metroid Prime Trilogy Strategy Guide! It would cover all three games, and would make up for the fact that I don't own the Echoes Guide.

That's a good question. These days, few stores located around here feature a large display of strategy guides. The last time I looked for one (the Mega Man Star Force 2: Wave Command Card Kit), I was told to order online as they didn't stock them outside of major releases, such as Halo 3 or GTA4. I wonder if the Metroid Prime Trilogy fits the bill...

Just finished playing through Metroid Prime one of this collection. I've gotta say, playing it with the Wii Remote is certainly a lot more intuitive than playing with the Gamecube controller. This shouldn't really surprise most, but, for those that would rather stick with analogs for aiming and camera movement, should consider this to be the game that changes your mind.

The neat thing about this compilation, is that the Credit gaining system from MP3 returns, but now credits are also acquired from meeting certain conditions in MP1 and 2 as well. These Credits are then used to purchase bonus content, artwork, music tracks, and other stuff from the main Trilogy's menu. Pretty neat, I'll say!

After completing MP1 (and I guess for all of the other games), it gives you the option to save, and start over a new game. I declined this option myself, so I can't be certain what kind of affects it has on your next playthrough. Perhaps it saves your Log Book/Scanning data.
It would certainly be nice to be able to playthrough these games a second time without the hassle of having to Scan anything ever again!

Hopefully one of you guys can clarify this, who isn't concerned about losing their cleared data, like me. :P
