Well If your a Gundam fan you most liklly know about the Gundam 30th anniversary project that fans have been talking about. When the talk of the project came out some believed that it was going to be the Unicorn Gundam which was just made into a HG Model kit. Well if you were hopeing for a Unicorn anime (and lets face it who would not) you might want to still listen. On Friday 2/27/09 it was announced that the Project was in fact an anime set in the year 0081 (Mobile suit Gundam 0081? thats what iv dubbed it) Here are some more details




"New Gundam project for Gundam 30th Anniversary: RX-78-7 7th Gundam, redesigned by Hajime Katoki-sensei, from the original one done by Kunio Okawara-sensei in MS Collection.

Mechanic Design: Katoki Hajime
Character Design: Suzuki Tatsuya

Earth Federation Phantom Sweep Team

Hughes Curro: Male. Age 32. A veteran officer who leads the Phantom Sweep special forces unit charged with hunting for Zeon remnants. He has a bitter experience in which his unit was annihilated in the past.

Sherry Allison: Female. Age 24. She was serving as a test pilot but was assigned to the special forces unit as a replacement.

Zeon Forces Invincible Knights

Erik Blanque (Blank): Male. Age 20. A young officer whose family is a distinguished family in the Principality of Zeon. He takes command of the “Invincible Knights” in order to execute a counterattack operation against the Earth Federation Forces.

Story: The time is Universal Century 0081. One year has passed since the war. Although the world was regaining order, small-scale battles continued in various places by the Zeon remnants who still continued to resist. During the situation, a veteran soldier of the Earth Federation Forces is appointed to a cleanup operation of the Zeon remnant forces. Feelings mix on the battlefield as the young Zeon officers advance their secret strategy for the revival of Zeon…"

How many are there now?

There's nineteen Gundam anime productions. Some are series, some are OVAs, a couple are movies. This one is expected to be either an OVA or, though unlikely, a full series.

If its an OVA expect 5-25 episodes.

Gundam OVAs normally are around 6 to 13 eps.

Anyway, I'm hyped for this and the new Mazinger show coming later this year. Awesome year imo.

Apparently, this might no longer be a series, but a video game for the PS3.

Most OVAs I have ever seen are 2-5 episodes long. XD;;
I stopped watching after Gundam SEED Destiny... It really got repetitive... Gundam Wing will always have a special place in my heart though XD

The actual 30th Anniversary Gundam tribute will apparently be an animated series of Gundam Unicorn, which currently is a novel set between Char's Counterattack and Gundam F91.

Been waiting for a Gundam Unicorn anime since I saw this video. Can't wait to get more news.

I heard it was just going to be a movie.

While not confirmed yet, a movie has been more or less ruled out--one source says that "episode one" has already been completed, so it's likely either a series or an OVA. Most likely the latter.
