Since about four days I've been having trouble with logging in on MSN. I didn't think too much of it, guessing there was just something faulty with the connection for the moment or something was running that prevented it from starting up somehow, as YIM was still working. Since IE wasn't working either, I thought that it simply was connected to that, and had to do with the wireless connection signal not being strong enough (that has happened before at any rate). Firefox was still working okay.
Yesterday though things got more out of whack. AIM and YIM also failed on me and I couldn't log in. Since IE suddenly works all normal again, it's obviously not the connection just being weak or anything of the sort. Thinking it might be a virus, I instantly let AVG run some scans and removed what little there appeared to be contaminated (it was only a few files hardly ever used), figuring that it might help, although I've recently also defragmented my laptop and got rid of a lot of unused files, all temporary files and cookies and whatnot.
That was on Sunday, and on Monday everything was working fine. On Tuesday afternoon it was that MSN started to fail. I managed to log on that evening for a bit, but not since then. Since I was able to log in on Monday, I figure that defragmenting and ridding myself of some files wasn't what caused it.
When I troubleshot MSN, it said there was something wrong with the proxy, though no specifics were given of course. I asked my mother what to do, since she knows a bit more about these things than I do, and she told me to go to IE and go to Internet Options and check if there was a box checked like "Proxies on" or something of the sort. There were no such boxes, checked or unchecked. Going to see if it perhaps had something to do with the Firewall perhaps, but it didn't teach me much.
Quite frankly, I'm a bit at a loss of what to do.
Of course it'll figure it is going to turn out to be something incredible simple, dunnit?
