I kinda thought of capitalism now, since politics made me think of communism, and that made me think of capitalism, but that is still kinda a conflict source.

I am now more specialized, more dedicated - Trains used to be the main mean of transportation over long distance, but now it's more often used on merchandises transport
Once a major conflict source
I am still going on, unyielding in my path - Train tracks on natives' lands, anyone?
Once a major pollution source
I am now cleaner, sleeker - Modern trains can run on electricity, making them much cleaner
Once the source of steamy exchanges
I am still quietly aiming for my goals - "Steamy exchanges" was all about steam trains, of course. 
Once the easiest mean of seeing the land
I am now challenged by the freedom of others - Trucks, which can reach more destinations easily, are fighting to get the market of goods transporation
Once limited to my tracks
I am still going the same way as ever - No matter the technology, old or new, a train is always bound by it's tracks!
