Sounds like it has to do with space travel. Or possibly just science. "Old country" could mean either a country that has existed for a long time (which is most European countries) or a country that no longer exists (like the USSR, the Austrian Empire, the German Empire or Third Reich, etc.).

How about Sir Humphry Davy? He invented the first light bulb, although it was far from perfect yet. His lamps were used by miners, who basically go deep into the earth, places that are "unattainable" being their goal, I suppose. And I'm not sure, but it's possible there is a company called Davy Motors. Memory is reeeaaally vague on that.

I think it might help if the country was known, if that would not be too much of a hint. I keep trying to think of or find someone who had to do with electricity or light bulbs, but aside from folks who had measurements like Volt named after them my mental well is drying up...
