For those of you who haven't heard of it, Cave Story is a freeware RPG that was released in 2005. It was developed by Pixel Studios, which is made up of one guy.

There are 3 different endings, the story is awesome, the gameplay is great and the music is catchy. It was originally released in Japanese, but someone made a translation patch. There is also a version of it coming to WiiWare at some point in the future.

It's called one of the best freeware games out there for a reason. I plan to pick up the downloadable Cave Story, which has extra content.

Loved the PC version, loving the wiiware version.

When did they confirm this date?

My source is GameFAQs, so looking now, it may not be overly reliable. All I know is it wasn't in the forums, but the data section. There is a chance I'm wrong, though.
