From the "I wasn't expecting this" Department comes the announcement of The Conduit 2, coming to the Nintendo Wii this Fall!

The first one looked neat enough, and I assumed it was a one-off game. It looks like it's sales were good enough to justify a sequel, which is great news: we're talking about a new IP, released for the Wii, with a mature tone, selling a decent amount of copies. Other companies might be tempted to follow instead of ignoring the console.

Don't worry TJ, I haven't forgotten about that one. In fact, the game almost immediately came to mind when I read the IGN article today. I've been meaning to try out a real Wii shooter for a while now, beyond Metroid Prime 3 (which is more of an adventure game).

The first Red Steel looked like launch material: fun at first, but quickly grows outdated. The Conduit actually sounded fun and solidly built, but I ended up skipping it as I didn't have a lot of online play time at the time of it's release. Now, either Red Steel 2 might be fun because of the Wii Motion Plus support, or The Conduit 2 could be a winner thanks to a strong online multiplayer mode.
