Episode 3?
Edited by Teej on June 16, 2010 at 3:57:27.
Good things come to people to those who wait. We'll see soon enough what Valve has in mind! I'm not really disappointed by the lack of Portal 2 at E3: we've got enough information already to get a good idea on how the game will turn out.

As fun as Portal was, I'm more interested in Episode 3 coming out to complete "Half-Life 3".
So the "big surprise", it seems, is the fact that Portal 2 will be available on the PS3.
Am I the only one that feels really underwhelmed? I mean, the first Portal is already available for the Xbox 360 and PS3, so I already assumed that Portal 2 would be available on the same platforms.

You would have been incorrect. Gabe Newell, the founder of valve, has perhaps been the most outspoken person when it came to PS3 distaste. He said he had no intention of ever publishing on it again after the horrible port of the Orange Box.
I'm excited about steam hitting the platform, though, even if I will get portal 2 for the pc.

1: Wheatley confirmed best valve character
2: The first meeting with Glados is CREEPY
3: The lab repairs itself around you. Seriously overwhelming...like it's a living organism itself.
Release date: February 9th, 2011

The game's now available for preorder, and it's 10% off for the time being. Those who want it and aren't afraid of the later download might as well place their order now, since the game is bound to require Steam anyway. You can even get 20% off if you preorder two copies (one for you and one for a friend)!

Still opting for the PS3 version. On top of the free steam extension/ copy, Portal always seemed like a "everyone watches" kind of game. It'll be nice to be able to play on PC while still having friends and family watch me go through the game.
Also Valve confirmed that saves are consistent between the PS3 and PC versions, so you can play on the PS3 and pick up where you left off on PC. That sealed the deal for me.
Late in posting this, but Valve started a new video series. Every week until release, they will release a video narrated by a new character, long-deceased CEO of Aperture Science Cave Johnson, selling Aperture products to potential investors.
Week 1: Panels.

Consumer turrets.
Also there's a screengrab hinting at another ARG similar to the portal 2 announcement one.
This is awfully reminiscent of this VGCats comic!
And what do you mean by "ARG"?

Alternate Reality Game.
Oh, right, I forgot all about that thing. I'm not enough of an addict to try decoding that, especially since I know how twisted their dev team can be!

It's still fun to read thru the wiki.
A guy from the Netherlands actually dropped off a sack of potatoes at the office of an indie dev. The next day, he found a clue on a pole two meters above their office, and he had to climb that to see it!

Portal 2 comic bridging Portal and Portal 2 together. Seems to be about Doug Rattman ("The Ratman"), the supposed scientist who created all the grafitti and notes in Portal 1.
zomg double post!
Looks neat. They don't explain too well how long that comic is or where it'll be available (outside of part 1 on IGN), but I think that the art style matches with the games well.

Double posting for a thing on another forum. Habit I'm currently in, bleh.
I like how the art changes as his grip on sanity tightens or fades.
So... unconfirmed, but there may have been a hint at Half-Life 2 Episode 3 in the ARG.

I got an email from one of the ARG folks.

And this should interest people not even participating: Concept art for Portal 2 found in indie game files!

Okay, let's recap:
Last of the aperture investment videos released. Won't bother linking to that since everyone know where to find it, and there's more to talk about.
ARG is suggesting now that Portal 2 is released early if the ARG comes to a completion before the 15th.
Tons of potato sack games updated with Portal content. Killing Floor, for example, gets an Aperture Science map, and Bit.Trip gets a Portal 2 stage which features a song from the Portal 2 OST
The ARG at this point indicates that none other than Glados is behind the potato updates.
