Today Capcom announced plans to reboot Devil May Cry and completely miss the entire point of the series, Kotaku reported today. "For the longest time, we have felt that we've totally needed to miss the mark when it comes to Devil May Cry," Capcom said in a press release. "Devil May Cry has meant insane combos and frantic gameplay with an emphasis on craziness, and quite frankly, we are very excited for this upcoming opportunity to completely ignore that."
Ninja Theory has been brought on board to develop this new game. Ninja Theory has been realized by the gaming industry for previous masterpieces such as Heavenly Sword. Ninja Theory said, "When developing Heavenly Sword, we began with one question - 'what if we took God of War, but added more tits?' With this new Devil May Cry continuity, we again return to a single question - 'What if we took a cocky, white-haired demon slayer and gave him the body frame of a chemistry nerd?'"
With the reboot comes a completely new Dante, reimagined from the ground up. In response to comments saying that the new design looks remarkably similar to the lead project developer, Ninja Theory said, "No, there is no resemblance. Our project lead clearly looks like he eats more."
We will continue to bring you more news of this reboot as it develops. Until then, here is your first look at Dante's new design, as the eponymous hero attends some personal business.
