Topic: Neighbors taunt dying 7 year old

Some people are idiots and idiots like this should be tarred and featherred and ran out of town. What jerks!!
I know what the common reaction will be, as it should, so I'll play devil's advocate instead.
This is one poor article, and it seems to miss the point of the entire story. A family has taken to do several stupid acts after getting a delayed answer about being invited at a party. Now, they're getting some massive backlash. This being the Internet, and Facebook being concerned, it isn't very surprising. However, what's up with the author's own retribution against the Petkovs? Four uses of a variation of "dick" in an article? A "douchebags" category? Calling them "assholes", the exact word that Jennifer is quoted as calling the targetted family?
My main problem with this article is that it promotes retribution over the dumbness of that family. Quotes like "But we're hoping the counter-harassment is not over." and "While we hate to see the sins of the parents delivered upon the kids, the epic douchebaggery of mom and dad makes it inevitable." is encouraging people to directly fight back; not only by holding an opinion, but by taking direct action against the culprits.
Make no mistake, I'm not defending the Petkovs. However, attacking them back will just perpetuate a cycle of hate that won't help to settle anything. There's a sad story in here, but it's buried under an unhelful inflammatory tone.

I know this can't contradict the previous news article, but this one's at least more cleaner and professional.
That aside, my opinion of this, which may seem like an understatement: the Petkovs are completely immature. They are bullies. More deviant, they have no regard for a dying girl, a dead mother, and a father who holds everything together, despite all these tragedies.
I think the best way for US to deal with this matter is rather than focus on the actions of the Petkovs, we show our support and care for the Edwards'.
I'm really... I'm not even sure there's a word for the emotion I'm feeling. But I'm really <X> after reading that the blod feud started because the Petkov's didn't get a test quickly enough.
I'd like to see a few more sources before I fully subscribe to that chronology of events, because it's just so mind-bogglingly stupid that I cannot accept it as fact. My brain just refuses.
I do have to agree with Doc on this one. It is completely unproffesional to use such terms in a news article. Then again, I really don't trust the media anymore, so I'm not sure how to exactly react to this article.
My sister's Boxer dog once got loose and there were several articles stating "vicious pitbull attacked man and his daughter." The dog was running up, wagging his stump of a tail, because the little girl comes over and pets him everyday. It was a huge mess, and the media made it ultimately worse. I have a hard time trusting what the news says anymore.
