Sometimes, games just HATE you. They want you to scream in pain. They want to eat your hat...without salt. They love to hear you cry.

But, most of the time, they're designed like that. All in good spirit.

But then there comes the one that just PISSES you off. The one above all. Where you could honestly believe that the game is cheating.

This doesn't have to pertain to bosses. Levels, characters, puzzles, system, anything.

So tell us. What, above everything, makes you go Angry Video Game Nerd?

Bad controls. I HATE bad controls. Whether it's because of poor button layout on controllers or unmanageable game physics, I HATE bad controls.

Far from bad voice acting, beyond crappy camera angles, over bad graphic effects... I'm with Arkane on this: it has to be bad controls. No matter if it's because the control scheme has been poorly made, or if your moves aren't detected properly, that can sink any game very quickly.

Zero's Dive of Doom in X6 remains to this day an example of a poor choice of buttons in a game where the controls usually react exactly how you want them to. This is also one of the core reasons why I never got in the Legends series: the blocky controls that felt counterintuitive robbed me of any fun (or basic skill!), even in the early parts of the first game. Castlevania Judgment's basic control scheme (Wiimote+Nunchuck) has you shaking the Wiimote for every single basic attack. This is completely unmanageable, but a quick visit to the options screen will wipe that away.

I'm thankfully have good parents to keep me away from bad games, but I had my share.

...that is, until LEGEND OF SPYRO: THE ETERNAL NIGHT.

It's rare for me to get this angry about one game. FF3 for DS was annoying hard, Hero's Tail got repetitive fast, Digimon World 3 doesn't give you any clue on where to go, and Monster Rancher 4 is just luck-based, but Eternal Night?

I should create a second topic just to vent on how this game pisses all over the games I grew up with, the ones I learnt how to get everything. The Original Trilogy makes my childhood.

Legends? Yeah, THEY ALL SUCK.
