Wondering why the PSN has been down for a week? Well, wonder no more: a group of people hacked into the system and probably copied your user data!
From the article, the following information was obtained:
name, address (city, state, zip), country, email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login, and handle/PSN online ID. It is also possible that your profile data, including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip), and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have been obtained. While there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility.
The result? Once the Network is back online, you most likely will want to login and change your password. If you used a credit card to purchase some games or DLC, as I have done, keep a close eye on your credit card records for the next several weeks to make sure that no suspicious transactions go through.
This is the second data breach this month that I'm personally affected by. I wish those people would give more attention on how my information is stored. I already have a distrust for Sony, this doesn't help things any.
