Not sure if this is true or not, but it's not unlike Capcom to do stupid things.

I'm sure eventually there will be new games, but they'll likely be short, unthought, back-burner kind of games. Kinda like CD-I... Or hopefully better than that ;p

I'd say a good bet for Capcom would be continue their 3D X or original series and release on a newer system as a 3D remake collection. For a refresh for old megaman lovers. Hopefully NOT mess with the story/levels. I myself kinda liked Maverick Hunter X. The 3Dness on a 2D platformer works well. Imagine playing the original megaman games, able to CROUCH AND SHOOT UPWARDS. It'd be like a brand new game. ;p

I heard from Ray that Mega Man Legends 3 got cancelled and that there are currently no new Mega Man games planned. Considering that his is the first time since... what, Mega Man 3? It sure does sound like a death sentence. Then again, with Keiji disappearing from the company, him being the father of Mega Man and all, it was sure to be toned down, but I hadn't thought of this. Hadn't they even gotten MML3 to the point where they could Beta test it and release a demo? That suddenly being cancelled after that sounds like an odd move, like kicking your child back down after it has almost climbed out of a well.

I know there's no case, but I wonder if a fan who won one of the contests could sue Capcom for going back on their word about the demo and their promised prizes. I mean, it probably wouldn't constitute an actual contract which could be considered breached, but it might gain some attention. Then again, what kind of attention would a frivolous lawsuit be...

Lets keep in mind, Mega Man is Keiji Inafune's brain child. There is till the chance, Mega Man will find himself under Keiji's hands again.

Considering Capcom wouldn't even let him work on Legends and Universe without the need to pay him, I doubt it. Probably fight to keep the franchise they'll never use again.

Mega Man is not completely dead, Mega Man Online is still dwelling.

Yeah... as a Korean MMO that'll likely never see the light of day outside of that country.

Legend of Zelda certainly didn't die between Link's Awakening and Ocarina of Time.

How many Zelda games were cancelled between those two?

The first two were sidescroller abominations, but the third had potential, just a few shortcomings. The most noticeable being the lag between screens, but otherwise did offer a solid overhead action title. A but more work and it could have been a respectable addition to the Zelda lineup. Given to a stronger system and maybe a better development crew, it could have been enjoyable and playable almost to the levels of the 2D overhead Zelda games. The only thing that would save the first two? Bury them in the desert with ET.

I had never even heard of a CD-i until shopping with my parents in some department store and seeing 2 Zelda games behind cases. I wanted one on the spot, but my parents saw the price of these things and said no way. Eventually after months of hearing nothing about them in Nintendo Power or other gaming mags, I figured maybe I had dreamed the whole thing... Too bad it wasn't a dream, but I'm glad my parents said no. That would have been a total waste of an X-mas present.

But back to Mega Man... Capcom could be working on a Mega Man game right now, but are unable to discuss it yet. It would look pretty bad to announce another Mega Man game, even to diffuse all this Mega Man death talk, if they go and cancel this one as well. They will probably play it safe and wait until it's already greenlit, as I sort of wish now that they'd done with Legends 3...

.... A lot of childhood memories with that lil blue trooper.

Honestly, given the price drop and all the worries about the system, I have to wonder if MML3's cancellation had less to do with the game and more to do with the 3DS.

Wouldn't surprise me. The 3DS hasn't sold that much compared to the DS tbh. I remember when the DS came out, all my friends had one. 3DS? I only know 4-5 people that have one irl.

Or maybe some people hate this 3D fad and want to see it die.

The only thing that could make me buy a 3DS is a new generation of Pokemon on it, but I'd still rather not see that happen. I like the DS. But I also don't want to see another Xbx or Playstation get released, and thats only a matter of time..

Oh, the 3D is optional anyway.

It's still the main selling point of the handheld...until recently anyway.

Even if the 3D is optional, I doubt Nintendo knows whether you are using it or not. So any purchase for the 3DS to them probably looks like support for 3D.

It's safe to say then, that it hasn't been getting much support.

Well I personally love the 3D effect and Im glad its optional because if Im in a car playing it in 3D I feel like Im going to puke.

The 3DS looks sleek and awesome but for those who arent into the whole 3D fad ya... thats going to cost Nintendo a pretty penny. I honestly dont think the Nintendo 3DS will last TOO much longer in my opinion. It might take another price cut... Watch it will be 100 bucks and still no one will buy it. I dont know anybody who has a 3DS but then again I've never known anybody to have a DS or Nintendo hardly ever unless it was back in highschool when the first DS came out.

The fact no one has one is a major downer for me >_< it makes Street pass useless!

Dead? No way man. At least wait til next year. Oh, and if you're talking merchandise, there's still a lot of them being made and sold as we speak. Those are evidence that the series is still alive.
