Anything I play that is sufficiently high in graphics like Audio Surf or Playstation or anything really starts out running fine but after a few seconds it slows down for a few seconds and then goes back to normal but then goes back to slow and so on. My theory at first was HDMI cord was dieing but its a pretty nice cord, my second one was the hard drive is starting to go, maybe its not processing as fast as it used to... although now it could possibly be my graphics card or something? What do you think it is??

HDMI is digital, so in most cases, it boils down to two possibilities only: it works, or it doesn't. In your case, since you have a picture, you're good.

This is a classic, but have you upgraded the drivers for your video card recently? These tend to be updated often and can solve some problems such as slowdowns.

One thing that occured to me about your Minecraft slowdowns: have you tried setting the render distance back to "Normal" instead of "Far"? I know you lose some viewing distance that way, but on my end, it makes a big difference. I haven't been able to use "Far" without crashing every few minutes ever since I updated to 1.8.
