Hey, guys. Anyone play tabletop RPGs? Things like Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu or Word of Darkness? Of course others are welcome.

I play Dungeons and Dragons and - more recently - Pathfinder. I noticed that every time my group tries to play, it turns into the first hour being a bunch of people trying to one up each-other's adventure stories. Some of them are actually pretty awesome. I was wondering if anyone had any they'd like to share! I'll share mine later if there's interest.

That said, if anyone's interested, I'm gathering people together for a campaign of Pathfinder I'll be DMing over Skype in about a month. PM me if you're interested!

I've never played any tabletop RPGs or D&D-like stuff, probably because very few people around me have (at least, as far as I know). As such, the only knowledge I have of the beast is from second- or third-hand stories, onlike jokes and various references. Somehow, I still like reading stories on that, since each game builds it's own story and involves different people in different settings!

Stories like The Tale of Eric and the Dread Gazebo don't get old no matter how often you read them. :)

Right now I'm testing a great rules-light RPG called Fate Core. It's very narrative with a big, great feature: phrases called Aspects that can be invoked for bonuses, or compelled to get you in trouble now, but also let you gain Fate Points to use for invoking later.

If you like telling a cool story, this game is for you. The kickstarter for the game is here. Any amount you donate gets you the game in PDF form immediately, and higher tiers get you free access to tons of expansions coming out for it, along with extra rules, special cards to play the game with, and more.

I regularly DM D&D games (Edition 3.5) for my group and once kept a campaign journal for one campaign here. It's full of wonderful moments.

Outside of that, my favourite moment has to be when I saw the look on the face of one of my players (and his subsequent retribution) upon losing his hydra pet that he tried to drop on top of an enemy wizard during a boss fight. A frail Zora as a Pokemon Trainer never before turned into such a whirlwind of fury, and successfully at that.

Some of the campaigns are odd, yes. In about half we use plenty of homebrew, so they turn out rather video game-like or anime-ish and over-the-top. The other half are more grim and low-power and more serious, but have plenty of silliness in them.
