Nintendo has officially announced that they're terminating the Wi-Fi service for Wii and DS games on May 20th. You can see the list of games affected here.
I didn't play a whole lot of DS games online, due to the fact that the thing couldn't even handle WAP encryption and thus prevented me from using many routers. Still, I had a lot of fun playing matches in Tetris DS online, even managing to beat some cheaters by playing better than them... On the Wii, Mario Kart handled itself quite well online. I'm hoping that the next Smash will work better than Brawl, those matches were too broken to be enjoyable.
I guess I should have seen this shutdown coming, but I'm surprised it's happening so soon. Games such as Pokémon White & Black 2 were released a bit over a year only, and they'll be swept aside too.
