So how many now, have gotten or played the Wind Waker?
I got it a few days after it\'s release in Canada, when I was able to pick up my preorder. I completed it last week, and wanted to post something about it, but was too lazy to find this topic; I didn\'t think I should start a new thread when there\'s this one in existance.
All in all, I think the Wind Waker was a really good game. Not perfect, but very good. Personally, I felt the games biggest fault was the sailing. It was an interesting idea, and paired with the story it made alot of sense, but the sailing just really breaks up the gameplay. It\'s too tedious, too boring. Walking across Hyrule in past installments wasn\'t that bad, but the sailing becomes jus a chore, especially since you have to control the wind direction to go where you want, and simply how big the sea is. I mean, there\'s 49 squares on it, and it takes about 2-3 minutes to sail through each of the squares. That\'s not the worst deal with the sailing and water though. The worst thing is you have to build your map pretty well, finding a fish and feeding him bait in 48 of the 49 squares, I think. It just becomes a chore.
All that said, the game does have alot going for it. The gameplay is alot like Ocarina of Time, but that certainly isn\'t a bad thing. But the gameplay is better, albeit easier. I think that\'s another major flaw within the game, is that the bosses are just too easy. The puzzles aren\'t exactly a piece of cake though, so it\'s fine, I think. The dungeons were certainly a new experience, especially the Wind and Earth Temples, where you had to bring in someone else with you in the dungeon. I can\'t say that the dungeons in any way were disappointing, it was just the bosses that were.
Strangely, though, the story was one of my favorite things about the Wind Waker. Usually Zelda games.. well, lets just say the story was completely different than I would have expected from a Zelda game, but I mean that entirely in a good way. It surprised me how much I enjoyed it, and it\'s great how it ties into the rest of the series. And without a doubt in my mind, the Wind Waker has the best means of abtaining the Master Sword.
