The Battle Network games and the Original Series happen at the same time (200X), in parallel universe. They don\'t \"fit\" together.

Dr.Cossack no offense but do u ever play megaman? in megaman 7 the year is 200XX it even says so and in the manuel for MMBN2 its the year 200X so im right and hublo rockman neo was another name for like megaman 64 and megaman legends well i havent found out about it yet

Hey silver 200X means 20010 and sorry for that i meant ya same year but battle network happened like earlier like in that time of year when megaman is built lan is dead and wily is still alive hmmmmmmmmm confusing. maybe they used megaman.exe\'s program to make megaman???? the world will never know. 
I believe the \"X\" here stands for any digit, such as the one you would use in algebra, not the roman numeral \"X\" for 10.

Are you sure that the Original series was set in 200X? I\'m sure I remember it being set in 20XX...
