1. Neon Genesis Evangelion
- Nothing short of perfction. Excellent. Well written, easy to understand(for me abyway) and simply beautiful animation. i particularly enjoyed the final two episodes,contrary to others oppinions, and feel that the movie (rebirth>EoE) happens during the same time. episodes 25-26 show us what is in the minds of the characters and coincide with the movie.

2. Serial Experiments Lain
- I think that this is one of the greatest works ever produced. I myself am a total computer geek and found this series to be very interresting to watch. if you havent heard of it or seen it, download the fansubs NOW. you need to see it to understand it. Also, it might be a few weeks after you understand it before you fully understand it entirely.

3. Furi Kuri (FLCL)
This is one of my personal favorites. although it may be hard to understand why anyone would like it, it has a very good and well thouht out story. It is one of the shorter series, having only five episodes( i think, its been a little while since ive seen it). If you like bizzare scifi, whatch this series. If you like serious scifi, dont stop after the first episode. it gets better. trust me.

4. .hack/SIGN
- I am a fan of mmorpgs, so this one naturally appealed to me. It has a very intriging story. just watch this one.

5. SDF Macross
- DIE ROBOTECH DIE!
robotech, although heavily edited( i only like the macross saga ie the first part of sdf macross) actually follows the original story well. if you can get some fansubs of the original version though.... Also Macross Plus is a very good but short series.



Also, if you like serious anime with lots of plot and dark story, look for Ringu. If you have seen the ring, watch this and you will see how american cinima butchers great movies. The ring almost mocks the original. Ringu is one of the best movies have ever seen and you really need to see it. again, look for a fansub. I dont trust official translations. look at some videogames! ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!! WHAT YOU SAY?:)
