First of all, Lan and Mayl\'s relationship is very mercurial (ooh, big word), and these sorts of things don\'t work well in translation. lan an Mayl will keep \"starting to fall in love\" for many of the games, just like Megaman will never keep his ability to style change; he always earns it back for each game. and as for this \"debate\" over Maddy and Mayl, not only is Maddy evil and way too old for Lan, she doesn\'t even show up after the first game/show/whatever. Like it or not, this is a kid-oriented game, Capcom\'s not going to change that in the near future, and...and...well, that\'s really about it, actually.

Ok, there\'s this type of relationship which I\'ve never seen in real life, but exists frequently in games. There\'s a guy who\'s either friends/ enemies with a girl, but the boy saves/ helps/ understands the girl and they start to fall in love.
This is where things can vary depending on what you watch/ play. In some occasions, they just become friends and the idea\'s dropped once the game or show is and is picked up by obsessive fan-fictionists. Sometimes, they fall in love and everything\'s sweet, and the designers end it there because typically, the adventure\'s over and there\'s little left to say.
Sometimes, they do get married, but this is typically when the game/ show wishes to launch into a new adventure... this is gonna sound corny, but has anybody watched Shrek, maybe?
Some of you need to refine yourself in the differences of video game/ story and real-life love.

Alright, now I don\'t know if it\'s just me, but back in like the 6th or 7th grade I\'ve seen people seem shy about getting a girlfriend. Though Lan\'s density on the subject is a little over the top, I don\'t think it\'s THAT strange not to want to be seen going on a date at that age. And, even seeing how their interests are developing so slowly, I wouldn\'t have Capcom speed it up any more.

Netto actually does realize it, he refers to it as such several times. Admittedly, he did have to be told it was a date by Rokkuman, and it never really sunk into that thick skull of his.

I think Capcom\'s using it as a joke of some kind. From a kid perspective, it may be *funny*. Can somebody write all the stuff in chronological order starting from game 1? Then we may figure something out.

first of all i think roll and megaman would make a better couple than lan and mayl. but i like the idea of both. and also i have noticed how with each new game the relationship starts over and ends the same way.
