"Exactamundo. You gotta know this, it's very important." Hugo balanced his pickaxe on his non-existent shoulder. "That way if a dimensional gate pops up in front of us, you know what's going on."
"Yeah, I've been meaning to know more about that," Hsien-Ko said, bounding out of the truck bed and landing near the group. "How are they made?"
"This is what Matt told me," Hugo began explaining. "See, whenever he does a freaky trick, it creates a huge amount of energy. Nobody can see it or feel it but Matt knows it's there. Now, in the right host, we think this excess energy wouldn't be a problem, but Matt clearly ain't the right host. He's got to grab a hold of that energy while he's doing whatever, or that energy's going to try and get back to the Eternal Sanctuary, and it does that by ripping random holes into reality."
"So the more he uses the Omega Core, the more damaged the Multiverse becomes," Mei-ling concluded.
Hugo nodded-or rather moved his entire body to resemble the motion of nodding. "There you go. Then sometimes he messes up the whole power altogether, and something different happens. It's cause he doesn't really have any full control over things. He hasn't been messing up lately but he's bound to later on. Still, he doesn't want to mess up the Multiverse 'cause then we'd be screwed."
