Tomoko sighed and shook her head. Damn freeloaders, she thought exasperatedly.
She looked back up at the structure.
"That is a Pillar of Dawn," she explained, "One of five hidden throughout the world."
The girl sat down, conjuring up a chair made of ice.
"They won't appear until the end of the Age approaches. They were put here by a race of beings that were ancient while Earth was young. Some sort of prophecy, I think. Anyways, while these things have their own power and can't be destroyed easily, they're not invincible. So each one has a female guardian. They're called the Daughters of Dawn. As Aisha put it, we 'protect and maintain the beacons of the morning light from the destroyer from beyond the twilight.' You know, the usual 'destiny this, karma that' bullshit. Well, turns out its not bullshit. Whatever this destroyer is, it's coming."
She sighed and hung her head. "There's supposed to be five of us. 'cept one of us, our leader, got killed by a rogue demon. Aisha took over after that. There's already another girl that'll step into our leader's place, but she hasn't 'awakened' yet."
Tomoko got up and went over to the Pillar, and pressed her hand to its surface and concentrated. Suddenly, a misty portal opened up above them all. Tomoko looked up and watched the past events unfold. Three men in armor entered the cavern and gazed upon the Pillar of Dawn, then ordered one of them to leave. They all returned to the surface, but the one in black took to the skies. The scrying portal followed the man's path until it reached the scene of a battle between... Tomoko blinked.
Juno, Kouken, and one other guy against... she thought, trailing off as the portal revealed the fourth creature.
A being with white and black skin, a jutting face with red lips and no eyes, assaulted the three Ancients, wielding a double-bladed greatsword and flying on large black feathered wings in the flashback.
