It took them several more minutes of searching within the old subway tunnel. R.D. found himself constantly on the lookout as the two children guided them deeper underground, concentrating on the Zonder Core and the Omega Essence within it.
"Whoa, look at that," Ileyna said, pointing at something in the distance. R.D. held up the Light Crystal to shine it further down. Off to the side in the tunnel was a large gap in the wall, dark and foreboding. "The Core went that way, too," she continued. "Its lower than before."
"Wonderful," R.D. said, motioning for them to stay back. "Let me check it out."
He approached it warily, stowing the crystal away and using light energy to illuminate the area while he held a Phase Blade in one hand. The amnesiac peered into the darkness, his gaze drawing downwards. What he saw was an expansive, open shaft, as if something had burrowed through. He made a low whistle, one that echoed in the shaft. "Great, looks like we're flying, now."
"While I would recommend flying," a voice suddenly spoke up in the darkness, causing R.D. to recoil backwards, "I am afraid that this game of yours is coming to an end."
R.D. leaped backwards as a figure of twisted metal rose up from the entryway of the cavern. It molded itself into a caped man with a familiar, bloody-looking helmet. "My name is Pizza," the newcomer said coolly. "I am here to bring you to an end."
