I\'ve heard of it, but like Zuppahiko said, it wasn\'t very successful. Most likely because of competition with Nintendo, in my opinion.

We\'re talking about Japan, here. Maybe the name sounds better in that language.

The original WonderSwan had similar capabilities to the old GameBoy (it was somewhat better). Then the WonderSwan Color came out, with 2D graphical abilities similar to the SNES / GBA. It was discontinued a little while ago. An interesting detail of the system is that it can be hold in two positions: horizontally and vertically. Some games even asked you to change the way you held the system during a game, to make a better use of the screen.

Some of the earliest Final Fantasy games were done as complete remakes for the WonderSwan Color, and were pretty impressive. The recent set called Final Fantasy Origins, which has both Final Fantasy I and II for the PSX, is a slightly improved version of the WonderSwan games. The biggest change was the added video cutscenes.

By the way, there was an ugly port of Rockman & Forte done by Bandai for the original WonderSwan. The SNES / GBA version is much better.

Wow, does that mean the ROMs are uncopyrighted?

Almost all ROMS are uncopyrighted, I think. But maybe that\'s just a little paranoia kicking in...

I\'ve heard it was an extremely unpopular system, but apperantly, there were good games for it... Maybe I was just listening to hard critics.

No, just like the SNES ROMs aren\'t legal. It\'s not because the system is no longer being produced that the games are free to download all of a sudden.
