First off go here and download GameMaker 5...

http://www.gamemaker.nl/download.html

This program comes with some great games to mess with, if your learning, and is still powerfull enough to use if you know what\'s up.

Heres my idea.
Instead of making HACKS for old NES SNES games, we could make and distribute our own games, and then redo member games with our own twist. Not only would this be fun as h*** but it would also be a learning experience.

So, who\'s up for it?
I already turned 1945 into a space fighter!
Complete with aliens and Blackholes...w00t!

So I\'m not the only one... Game Maker does rock, in fact I\'m making a MMBN fan game, get the scoop in the fan games forum, and look for my name.

And I'm back, back again! Haha, I had forgotten about this inside my favorites!

Do you have to download? Does it cost? How much memory does it take up?
It sounds pretty cool, if you can turn an airplane shooter into Star Wars. :D

What will I be able to do without registering? I once went to some huge-datafiled site that only offered me different ways of configuring Space Invaders, is why I ask.

I used to use gamemaker a lot and even learnt how to make simple yet decent games on it. The only thing I would complain about it, is that once the game gets like 5Mb or over the game starts to run slow. Another problem I found with gamemaker is that it\'s very buggy whne you create games and you always have to fix them, it\'s a bloody pain.

It\'s ok for a program that\'s free. It\'s a lot more coplicated then the producers say it is. They claim it\'s easy and simple to use with no use of coding needed because of the button features, but that\'s a complete lie.

You have to use coding most of the time anyway to get a game to work and the coding itself isn\'t simple, you need the knowledge of a computer engineer to manipulate the code properly.

The buttons make game making simpler but not that much. They only help you write out the script and coding.

Gamermaker also has many limits, is buggy and a pain. Overall, I don\'t think it\'s that great in terms of a \'simple game maker which a average person could use\'. There is other, more better programs out there for people you don\'t want to spend most of their time learning codes and scripts.

BTW, make your posts more detailed.

Since my computer is from the stone age, I have to know this software\'s system requirements. What are they?

....Seriously, Tutuman. You don\'t have to e-mail me saying you\'re talking about my games on the message board. *Shakes head* What on earth are you doing here, anyways!? I\'ll be keeping an eye on you.
Anyways, Yes, I do use Game maker. I use it a lot. In fact, it takes up most of my day.
And yes, I don\'t use coding, but now I do in little doses. I\'m getting more advanced.
One more thing, it\'s \"variables\", not varyabals.

So I'm not going to have anything spectacular in my signature.

I agree... Most of it still requires program know-how. I got this and tried it out once, I was only able to make something similar to atari\'s \"Pong\"... If you\'re hoping this thing will help you make a game without you having to do math or know what variables are, then think again... I stopped using it a LONG time ago... hopefully, something easier will come by, because... as you can see... I have a LOT of sprites I wouldn\'t mind putting into a game.

you can get a megaman example file for gamemaker. You should download the platform tutorial on the gamemaker website, then you can just copy and paste the code. I\'m making a tight megaman versus game, and look for it at gamehippo.com. ists coming soon. I know alot about making megaman clones in gamemaker. Not using coding makes for sloppy work.

Uh, thanks. But I already gave up on the whole \"Game\" idea. Also, you DO realize you double-posted, right?
