Topic? Human Morals and why as society we label people as either a genius or a dunce.

Hello. I would like to talk about how sad and depressed I am. However I won\'t because nobody likes a cry baby. And chances are if I start talking, I\'ll start crying. So screw that. Instead we will talk about society. Also note that for the sake of discussion, I must make generalizations. I fully understand that by their very nature, all generalizations are wrong, but in order to make this post work I must generalize. If I do not, I will spend all night saying how sorry I am for not making everybody happy and feeling special.

-The groups-

Genius...These are the smart kids. The ones who go to all the honors classes and the ones who you laugh at because they all seem like nerds. They are above the norm, and that bugs us. But we are the ones who put them there. In reality, they are no better than us, we just expect more from them, and by conforming to societies expectations, they do better at just about everything.

The Box...This is a concept that many find hard to accept. It is the normal area of society, and everybody in this group is average. Now you may ask, who wants to be just average? The answer is everybody. As humans our number one priority, weather we notice it or not, is to fit in. But what is it that makes you average? Whatever the majority says average is, average is. So in that respect, the average group holds the power to say who goes into the genius group, which we laugh at...and the other group which we also laugh at. And that would be...

The Dunce...these are the ones we all know. They don\'t do much, and we don\'t expect them too. However they are not usually stupid. But at a young age we label them as such, and so they live up to that expectation. They are the ones who clean lunch table, and cook the burgers. It is sad to say, but if just once in their early life they where told they WOULD succeed then they would become a genius.

------------------------------------------------

So, why as society do we label people, is such a cruel systematic way? I believe that the answer is that in order for the genius to be smart, somebody must be dumber than him. If nobody is dumber, than the genius becomes average. But don’t we all want to be average? Well yes and no. You see, the average people want to be average so that they belong...they fit in.

But what if you take away the genius and the Dunce? Everybody is average. And if everybody is average, your odds of falling out of that norm are higher; because one difference makes you a freak.
And if that\'s the case, then why don\'t we just have genius and Dunce? Because then the genius would only be smarter than the people in the average Box. And in relativity, that would make us dumb. Keep in mind that we don\'t want to be dumb, we just want to fit in. So we generate the Dunce to keep the genius in check. There, all happy for the average Box.

But how do the genius and the dunce take this? Well really, they are outcast together. But still divided, they also strive to be average. How? By further subdividing themselves. Now we have stupid genius or genius -/+, and we have dunce -/+. This is where the whole trappings of circles come about. You have all seen them, the groups of kids who are always together. This is because they where divided that way, and so they stick together. This makes them average in their own little circle, and now they fit in. And of course, that\'s what we all want in the end.

I am terribly sorry that we can\'t let your four personalitys have an equeal say, maybe they can vote on it? Or you could always just go with the average....

I guess i\'m a half breed. Half Dunce...Half Genius.
At times I can do things nobody thought I could do and figure things out nobody thought I could even think of..
On the other hand Sometimes I can be completely unreliable...Appearances can be deceiving.
I would do so much better as one of those annoying guys with a \"can do\" attitude.

I have been told that the essence of being Splash Woman is not in attaining perfection, but in the attempt.

If so, then Splash Woman in general does not qualify as, well, human.

I wouldn\'t say I\'m a genius exactly, but I have the higher level classes and I\'m generally laughed at. I think that qualifies.

REALLY hate to double post, but this would be one heck of a :Edit:

This is the revised version of my first post, and it\'s a bit more realalistic. Hope you enjoy, and sorry again.

The world as a whole is a rather terrible place to be. This is because the world as we know it is one of false stereotypes, intolerance towards just about everything, and a proper lack of understanding for the uniqueness of other people. Just about all of this madness is generated by a very simple, yet at its core infinitely complex, problem. The problem is (and here’s the simple part) that we are put people into groups of assumed idiots, and geniuses at a very early age. Now here we have the tricky part, and that is that very few people ever consciously realize that this is happening to them. What’s worse is that this process is happening constantly and without proper motivation of the masses, the problem will never cease.

The chaos goes like this; three groups and a good deal of random chance are applied. This is done by taking small children who are too young to understand the ordeal, and attempting to discover weather or not they are smart kids or dumb kids. Granted this is impossible, because at this age a child has yet to develop his or her intellect and work ethic. But we try anyway and our success as a society reflects our miserable failure. If a child was assumed to be intelligent and not placed in “special” classes to early, it is feasible to assume that all children would achieve great things while being surrounded by greatness. That group of greatness is, for lack of creativity, going to be referred to as the “Genius” group. The other group that ruins lives will be known, for a similar reason, as the “Dunce” group.

As those in the dunce group know, life can be hard. People don’t expect much from you, but that hurts. If you get bad grades, or spend your life working for Burger King, people just look the other way and assume that it’s natural. But nobody deserves to spend their life like this. So why as a society do we label fellow human beings in such a cruel systematic way? In reality it’s all about being average and in reality that’s a shame…

The average, will for lack of a better term, shale henceforth be called the box. The box consists of the people who fit in and, in short, the people who totally conform to political correctness, general fashion statements, and a very drab way of living. However there is nothing wrong with this. It is human nature to try to “fit in”, because doing so gives you a sense of purpose and belonging. But why does society feel the need to make these extra two groups, the genius and the dunce? This is simply because without the extremes to bounce back against, it becomes much easier to fall out of line. One simple difference makes you a freak. So shy not just have a genius and a box, would that not make everybody happy? No, if all you have is genius and average, than the average is dumb compared to the genius. So we create an artificial group of dunces to keep the genius in check and maintain our normality. Now the box is nice and happy. Hurrah for the box…

So, how do the genius and dunce take this, in their cold alienated worlds that we ridicule for being different? They do exactly the same thing as the box did to them. Among the genius there are some who are even smarter, and those that don’t quite cut it. The same goes for the dunce, and so we now have perpetually subdivided groups of common natured people, preventing society from functioning the way it should. But it all just comes back to fitting in. If the genius subdivides itself into small niches, soon we have small groups of friends or associates who all flow together nicely and everybody has that natural sense of belonging. And in the end, weather we admit it or not, that is all most of us ever wanted.
