If I understand right, the massive beating you gave him in MMBN3 broke through to make him sane again.

Either way it would be sweet to play as him as an extra to the game in MMBN4. Or a new game plus like thing where you can play as him.

What he\'s saying, if I enterpret(sp?) correctly, is that beating the stuffing out of Bass after he absorbed Gospel puts him right back in his normal, human-hating but sane state. then again, he could be wrong, and Bass simply fled to avoid deletion, coming back in the next game blind with the power from Gospel (aka the BugFrag Trader).

Yeah, I wasn\'t suggesting that you made him sane, but rather that you helped him start to become sane.

I found info about his backstory:

It begins with doctor Cossack. He was the head of the Independent
Navi project- a project to create a net navi able to perform on
its own without an operator. The result of the project was an
immensely powerful net navigator able to obtain abilities from
fallen enemies. Even without that, that navigator was able to
defeat armed opponents with its bare hands. Its name was \"Forte\".

At the same time, Hikari Tadashi was working on the Proto, which
would later be known as the prototype of the networks used in
the EXE series. As we have seen in EXE3, the Proto was dangerous.
Forte had earned infamy throughout the science labs, as he
constantly attacked and deleted navis that the scientists were
working on. They were, of course, displeased. Forte saw it as
helping them, as he was supposedly showing them how weak their
navis were.

When, one day, all of the devices connected to the Proto
malfuctioned, the scientists blamed Forte, who had caused
similar problems before. He was then sealed away for some time.
Later, he awoke to find that his prison was gone, and that there
was a large amount of destruction caused all over. The scent of
the perpetrator was still fresh in the air- he knew that the
culprit was Proto. However, the science lab\'s elite navi corps
soon showed up. Despite the evidence pointing towards the fact
that the destruction was Proto\'s work, the corps attacked Forte,
who fought back. All of them were defeated easily save for one
who managed to strike Forte across the emblem on his chest.
Forte\'s bond with Cossack was severed, and he was heavily
wounded. Using his latent ability, the Get Ability program for
the first time, Forte created a copy of the sword that had
cleaved his soul in two, and struck down his last opponent.
In the aftermath of the battle, Forte thought about the events
that had happened. Even though Cossack knew that he was innocent,
he had agreed to confining him. Even though it was obvious that
the Proto had caused all of this, he had been attacked and almost
killed. He blamed Cossack for the treachery. Not just Cossack-
all of the scientists, all of the humans were at fault!

Forte fled into the shadows, escaping into the deepest recesses
of the internet. He was attacked by viruses and navis, and upon
each victory, he grew stronger with the Get Ability program.
Soon, he had become a legend- the \"Black Shadow\", a mysterious
navi lurking in the deepest, darkest corners of the internet,
with incredible power capable of defeating any opponent.

After this, the plot diverges from the games\'. Many years later,
Rockman gets the legendary Saito Style, and ends up fighting
Gospel. Forte detects the energy used in the battle, and travels
to the server on the cruise ship Netto and Obihiro were on by
going through sattelites. His coming was signalled by each
sattelite, unable to sustain his data for long, exploding. When
he arrives, he immediately destroys Gospel, uses the Get Ability
program to go into Saito Style, and fights Rockman.

Although Rockman is able to defeat him, this is a good example
of how strong Forte really is. In the games, he never uses the
Get Ability program on Rockman, and has never really fought
at full power. In the first game, no details were given. In the
second, he laughed after taking 2000 damage and left. In the
third, he had used up most of his power destroying the Guardian,
and later, was still heavily damaged from the Proto incident.

Forte\'s name, like those of many other characters in the Rockman
games, is a musical term. A forte is a strong note. A powerful note.
A loud note. What does this have to do with him? Consider that this
name was first thought up for the original Forte, in the classic
Rockman series.

Forte first shows up in Rockman 7. He seems to act like he\'s strong,
and powerful. You end up seeing that he\'s just... loud. This can be
seen best in Rockman 8. Should you play the English version, this
is what you\'ll hear.

\"Mega Man too day we finnish dis!\"
\"Hey Bass! Why mars I fide you? We are not enemays!\"
\"Shyadup!\"

And then Megaman shoots him and he goes \"UWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!\".

Forte, in other words, is a suitable name for the original, which
describes his personality. But it would seem that this is the
inverse for Rockman EXE\'s version. In the first two games, he
barely said anything at all, and while he does constantly claim
that he is superior to Rockman, that is because he is.

Bass is pronounced the same way as the instrument or musical term. The only way I know this, is because in the games, he has a dog by the name of Treble. Treble and Bass are two different clefts, the types of musical scores found on paper music.

I thought so, anyway, Bass didn\'t go to the secret area to fuse w/gospel, Gospel saved Bass from Alpha. after you beat the game you hear a growling and Bass asking Gospel if he will save him. Gospel saves Bass by fusing with him you see.

*sigh* well, since this old topic has been bumped (which it shouldn\'t have been), I suppose I\'ll put down a theory for Bass now that we know what happened in MMBN 4:

Apparently, defeating Bass after he\'d fused with Gospel did little to him in BN3. Mad with power, he apparently just shot off somewhere into the UnderNet. There, because of the overload of power he experienced, it is my guess that he went into something of a \"stand-by\" mode, attempting to restore the corrupted or lost data from being overpowered. In the case that an enemy appeared that could do a serious amount of damage to him, he set up a great prerequisite to reach him, so that he was not repeatedly bothered by the Undernet inhabitants, nor caught off guard by someone seeking to destroy him. Thus, when you awaken him in BN4, he does not recognize you as the one who repeatedly defeated him; You are merely a powerful navi, one strong enough to obtain the 5 most powerful DarkChips in circulation, and thus a threat to his catatonic body, which he must then defend.

Now, until the next bloody game comes out, I\'m leaving this alone.

I actually had this other theory that even tied in Saito-style. It was the weirdest...

Here it is BTW, I still had it lying around.

Quote:
Bass, has been credited with being the first Independant Navi. However, toughly around that time, another Navi was being worked on. However, after the Alpha Revolt, this Navi, not quite finished was scrapped. Although the body was destroyed However, Bass saved the data and dumped into the Net. Years later, Yuuchiro found said Navi\'s conciousness and used it to create a file that would change DNA. The Hub.bat

Cut to MMBN1. Lan uses the Hub.Bat. Megaman revives as Hub. Navi\'s conciousness awakens within him. Navi\'s power, is what makes up another program. The Chnge.bat

Cut to MMBN2. Lan uses the Chnge.bat. Awakens Navi\'s power. As time passes, Navi feeds power to Megaman in the form of styles (HeatGuts, ElecTeam, AquaCustom, WoodShield) hoping to corrupt him from inside out. Plan fails. When fighting Copy Bass, not enough power. Navi\'s power fully emerges as Saito style. Although innately evil, Saito becomes eventual friends with Lan and Megaman.

MMBN3, When absorbed by Alpha, Megaman uses the last of his power to jettison Lan to safety. Saito does the same for Megaman. Blast knocks Saito in Secret Area. Alpha\'s infection transforms him from style to NC Block. Megaman eventually recovers it.

When fighting Bass GS. NC block explodes, and Saito\'s power rushes out of Megaman, and into Bass GS. Warping him into the Black Earth, and negating Gospel\'s power.

All spec.

I don\'t get why bass doesn\'t just find a nice obscure comp and settle down for a bit. I mean, why can\'t he just go back to Cossack and be his Navi? When does he get tired of this?
And when does the dark power overwhelm him?

But when has ProtoMan even come into contact with Bass? I mean, Bass has only made a few small appearances in different BN games so far. I\'m not certain the officials ever even knew about Bass.

Major spoiler, reveals the whole backstory of MMBN 3, so don\'t read it if you haven\'t beaten the game!!!

Spoiler (click to toggle)
Lan\'s grandfather created Alpha, the original intenet, just like the one we use now. I\'m not sure, but I think that Wily and Dr. Hikari were partners, not apprentice and mentor. anyways, Wily make numerous inventions, like the tanks and the Pulse Transmission System, but when his ideas became to deviant and violent, he was fired from his job at SciLab. He vowed revenge for the insult of his release from his job. Dr. Cossack was the creator of Bass, one of the first navis made to run on alpha, the original net. when alpha developed an artificial intelligence and became self-consious, it began to malfunction, causing serious errors. Since Bass was introduced onto the net around the time that Alpha malfunctioned, he was blamed for the problems and those working at SciLab decided to delete him. Dr. Cossack, not realizing that Bass had also developed a new level of intelligence, allowed Bass to be deleted. however, since Bass had the Get Ability Program installed, he managed to crawl away and absorb the strength of the viruses he found, growing stronger. At the same time, the scientists at SciLab found that Alpha was the problem, not Bass. Upon realizing this, they subdued Alpha so as not to lose all the data, and Dr. Hikari put his own special block on Alpha to prevent its escape. In addition, they also developed a program that would be able to subdue Alpha should he ever escape: the Forbidden Program. This program was guarded by the most powerful Navi at the time, excluding Bass: Serenade. Over the years, Bass grew strong enough to fight, and since he was self-concious when Dr. Cossack allowed his supposed deletion, he developed a hate for the man who had spawned him and then put him through such pain, and vowed to do all he could to destroy that man and his race. That\'s why Bass is so angry, and why Wily needed Bass to open Dr. Hikari\'s security block: Hikari developed Alpha, and so his was the strongest security cube made. My own theory is that since Megaman was once human, most of the data for his creation was already stored as brain waves, and so he wasn\'t inhibited with programs that would react badly to the Forbidden Program, hence his ability to handle it.

yes they did aimman

Well, that\'s all just theory! No offense to Serpentarius, it\'s an excellent theory, but we can\'t actually prove it. It would really help if Capcom would explain more on Dr. Cossack in the BN series...
